Hi all. Haven't had a chance to check out most recent postings from last week but will do so tomorrow.
Morning all: Whose birthday/anniversary is it? Lynette? Lindybird? or as Alan, says Jeanette??? :-) Whoever it is, hope you and your OH have a lovely day.
The drive is long but the roads are straight and fast once you get past - ugh - Los Angeles. We just put cruise control on and let it go - oh - and the a/c of course! The last part should be pretty since we'll be climbing up to about 5,500 feet through pine forests. There's barely enough room for our tiny bit of luggage in the car since we've managed to cram gd's tea-cart into the back seat (had to disassemble it). Lightning is off at the spa (a "room" at the local humane society that has an outdoor protected "patio" - seriously! - where she can loll in the shade and watch doggie visitors and local birds).
Gotta run. Take care all.
Afternoon all ... Weather this morning was lovely and sunny, but cold. The promised rain didn't materialise until a few minutes ago! It was such a nice morning we had a trip to the Outlet Centre at Royal Quays, and went the 'scenic route' via Whitley Bay and Tynemouth. It was lovely to see so many holidaymakers out and about enjoying themselves, and the sun shining on the sea looked beautiful!
margobird, so glad your cough seems much better.
Annette - take care on your long trip
OG - your gingerbread sounds good. I've been trying to find my granny's treacle scone recipe .... haven't made them for years ... its amazing what a difference having a new kitchen is making to my culinary efforts!!
Lindybird - glad to hear your neighbour is home at last ... but a bit silly not to wear the 'thingy' round her neck ... can be such a life-saver.
AQ - more lovely words of wisdom from Anon!
Diane - great to see your long post ... hope your dad and your back are ok now.
Thanks to everyone else for chat etc
Take care

Afternoon all just having a look in to see how everyone is as I am going to be busy for a few days helping SiL son as BiL died peacefully this morning. The anount of things that have to be seen to personally is amazing although the funeral director does do a lot for you. I have been very grateful for the support I have received from everyone on this blog during his illness thank you.
george g
Good afternoon george g so sorry to read about your BiL. Thankfully peacefully and now out of pain. I do understand the amount of things that have to be done as I arranged both my Mum and Dad's funerals. Condolences to SiL and son. My thoughts are very much with you at this sad time.
Margobird
Sorry to hear it but also glad in a way, as margobird says, to hear that your bro. in law is now at peace, georgeg. I'm sure all your wonderful support of his family at this time of his illness has been much appreciated. I know what a lot there is to do when there is a death in the family: a whole list of things appears which seem to take up a lot of time all of a sudden, just when you are getting used to the idea of the loss in the first place. I'm sure you will be a huge help to the family once again with this. Our thoughts are with you and them all.
George – I am sincerely sorry for you and your SiL at the loss of her husband, but pleased to read that his time of suffering is over and that he died at peace. Although it was expected, she will nonetheless be very much in need of your strength and support at this time, and I am sure you will be a source of encouragement and practical help as you always seem to be for your family. My thoughts are with you.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
georgeg - my sincere condolences on the death of your brother-in-law ... at least he is at peace now. I know how much is involved at this time ... my thoughts are with you and your family.
So sorry to hear about your BiL George, but also relieved to hear that his suffering is now over and he will have found peace at last. My sincere condolence to his wife and family, and of course to yourself. There will be plenty for you to cope with, but it is when the funeral is over that the loss really 'strikes home' to those who are left. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
GeorgeG : My deepest sympathy for you and your family on the death of your Brother in Law. It puts everything else on this blog into perspective. My thoughts are with you at this sad time.
George - My heartfelt condolences to you and family. BiL at rest and I know that you will be a tower of strength to SiL.
