  • Hello!  and a Happy Monday to you All.

Nice landscapes, OG.   Those wind turbines can look beautiful in the right light, but I wouldn't like to live underneath one, as have heard that they are very noisy.

Here is the 'Monday Smile'  for this week:  They are pictures of a budget airline which has been operating in South Africa, and yes, they are real!

--- apparently, they operate a very relaxed crew, too :  one instance was when they let folks board - there is no assigned seating- you sit where you want.  On this particular flight passengers were apparently having a hard time choosing.  So a flight attendant announced   "People, people, we're not picking out furniture, just find a seat and get on it!"

  • Thanks to Diane for amazing link to the fox attack video - had to watch it twice!   Don't miss it, folks.

Annette:   A new fashion - umbrella on head!  Seem to remember doing that myself once.  These things are all out to get you.  Made a note:  "in future, don't eat the cheeseboard in my hunger, it may disagree with me".

Lots To Do again today - and Monday is supposed to be a sort of day off now we are semi retired.  Ha!

and that's without the dreaded Ironing Pile.  ugh.

    Have a Good Day, All.

  • Lindybird    The bit I like about that video is the way the chicks made good their escape.  Fox does not always win. I wonder if the bird came back to sit on the same nest?

I wondered that too   - wish they could tell us!

  • Diane thanks for the video. I am so glad the nightjar family survived though part of me does sympathise with the fox.

Tiger, we know someone who would love to see that bit of footage!

  • Good morning all, and I hope nobody got flooded out in the night.  A bit wet here, but seemed to be improving, which is not as forecast!  Big shopping trip to Morrisons in Dumfries this afternoon – re-stocking after letting spares run down for kitchen work.  Got up late again today, and still tired – but half-hour in garden and greenhouse before dinner did turn into hour and a half!

AQ – pleased you enjoyed Dau’s party and acted photographer for her album.  Know what you mean about remembering people by their clothes. When I was 10 and my parents got lost on holiday, I was able to describe exactly what my mother was wearing; she said later she wouldn’t have had a clue about describing me if it had been the other way round (a thought: were they really lost, or were they trying to tell me something?!)  Watch those Magpies – before long they’ll be coming through to the kitchen to fetch their own mince!

Annette – pleased to read that you relaxed in the garden yesterday – if only to be attacked by the umbrella!  I hope you enjoyed your Modified Greek salad!!

Diane – thanks for link to Fox video – looked a young Fox, so although I am glad the birds got away, I hope he found a meal somewhere! (a bit like feeling sorry for the fish in the Osprey nest!)

Lindybird – don’t think I would fly with that airline – correction: I definitely would not fly with them, I won’t even travel in green cars!

Must go cook potatoes and beetroots for salad.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Good morning Lindybird thanks for the Monday smile.  Pleased to read that you are feeling much better now.  Do enjoy shopping for Sweet Pea, I love it when my sister and I go out to do baby shopping.  They have such lovely clothes for young ones now.  Hope the dentist trip goes well and doesn't cost you a fortune.

Didn't come on much yesterday as I seemed to spend most of the day sleeping.  Couldn't stay awake at all.  OH saying I should go to the doctor but I really don't think there is anything wrong, it is just the cold and cough that seems to have knocked the stuffing out of me.

Our weather here last night was quite frightening and I hardly got any sleep again.  We live at the bottom of a hill and whenwe  get torrential rain for as long as we did last week the drains out in the road can't cope.  We went to bed and wasn't long before we could here gurgling coming from the toilet and I got up to find the water level right up to the top of the bowl.  We could then hear the sinks doing the same so I got up and kept watch.  Eventually the rain did ease and once that happens it doesn't take long for the water to drain away.  It was nearly 3.00 before I went back to bed and I couldn't get to sleep at all so not feeling exactly nyself again.  Didn't like to wake OH up and he really sleeps well and at least I don't have to go to work in the morning.  He vaguely remembers me telling him about the loo but hadn't realised until this morning that I had not gone back to bed until 3.00.

It had stopped raining this morning so I put  a load of towels on the line and guess what more heavy rain even though the forecast said it would brighten up.  Had to dash out and fetch that in and it was wetter then when I put it out.  I know we wanted rain so badly but not the monsoon like conditions we got.  In fact it had rained from Friday evening until early this morning with a few short breaks when the sun made an appearance but that didn't last long. All that hot and dry weather seems a long way away now.

Have a good day all and sorry for my moans but lack of sleep really makes me feel crabby.

  • Hi Annette husband is a real sweetie I am so lucky to have found him.  He always tells me to go to sleep when I am in the car but can't even do that as I am so nervous.  He is an extremely careful driver so not worried about him but worry about some of the idiots there are on the roads now.  Perhaps if I had good eyesiight and learned to drive I would be a lot better but that is something I couldn't do with the restricted eyesight.

  • Good morning original goldfinch and thanks for the lovely pics.  The one of the gull is really excellent and I think you are right it is a herring gull.  Must have been really enjoying itself soaring on the thermals.

  • Good morning Brenda H and I was sorry to read your post.  You must be wondering when all this bad news is going to end.  So fortunate you managed to get your DiL onto a flight so she could be with her Mother, such a distressing time for the family.

Did you get the awful weather overnight.  If you did hope you have not suffered any damage.  I have never seen rain so hard as it was from about 11.00 to 3.00.  Don't like strong winds either.
