Daily Update Tuesday (LG Nest) 17th August

Hi everyone.

Thanks for all the great posts, pics, videos etc on yestarday's Daily Update.  Seems like it was a momentous day at LG on Monday.  Perhaps EJ has set off on another migration to Africa.  If so her last appeance on the LG nest in 2010 was something to behold.  It was almost as if she was saying: "See you later." to the magnificant Odin, and perhaps even us viewers.  She deserves to play to the camera though.  She's an absolute star.  Can't wait to see her next spring.

Rain falling at LG now.  Who knows what dramas today will hold.

I'm starting to feel tired, so I'll fly off to roost.

Paul.

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

  • Noisy GEM back on the nest!

    .... and off the nest!

EDIT - My hands are up too, Gary!

  • Cirrus : I have trimmed 6 mins at the start of the Odin Show as I think that bit contained the most action. The rest of the time he was posing and playing up to the camera.

  • Lynette RSPB told ne I an pencilled in for 11 July so hopefully that does mean I will get to go.  If another person has volunteered and can only do that week then I might have to accept a different week, but that is fine as I have given five dates when I could go.  Fingers crossed I am getting so excited and there is another 10 months to go yet.

Thanks for that Alan it was so amusing to watch and now we have the best bits to watch when he has left us.

  • Thanks Cirrus from my conversation with a very nice lady at the RSPB I got the impression I had been pencilled in for that date so hopefully that means I will get to go.  I will take plenty of cake as you suggest but can't believe this dream I have is likely to come true.

Heron77 I hope that from what I was told that I will be volunteering and as you say can't wait for that time to come.

  • Late getting back on this evening as dinner was later than I hoped.  Can see I have missed some action but thanks for all the pics and the commentary.  Looking at the nest and it is amazing how dark it is getting in the evenings now.  Dark here in Poole and not 9.00 yet.  Despite missing the latest action it has been a good day on the nest with Odin putting on a real show for us all and keeping us amused for so long.  Going to watch the rest of the football now OH's team is losing at the moment so he is not a happy bunny.  Goodnight all and see you tomorrow.

  • Hi all, haven't been on here for ages as only had time to check the main blog and check the camera.  You've probably already talked about this but if not you've got to watch Natural World from last Thursday if you can get it on i player or catch up tv.  It was on sea otters.  Don't get me wrong there are traumatic parts is usual in nature but there are so many more lovely moments in it that it really is worth watching or just fast forwarding over the bits you can't watch.

Dreading the time all the family leaves, will everyone still be chatting through the winter?

  • Just logged on to see what's happening ... nothing ... empty nest ... I wonder if the screecher from earlier got his fish?

Hi Trish 2 - it will be a big hole in our lives when the family leave us, but we do chat through the winter. We don't have the 'Daily Update' once the ospreys have gone, but we keep the 'Weekly Chat' pages going, where we chat about anything and everything!

  • Hi Joan, I have left the nest on the computer. Middle one carried on screeching, away from the nest, and then it just stopped. I don't think I have missed anything ,although not watching all the time, but I have no more news.
