I have made a first draft copy of 2009 season's chicks statistics. I am putting it up on a new thread for your comments, corrections and additional information. Then we should produce an up-to-date record of the 2009 season and the development of the young birds up to the present.
I suggest that only discussion relevant to the above objective, be included. Any informal discussion could continue on the Daily LG Update, (or its successor during the migration months).
I am doing this now, before the likely drop off of contributors, to the threads during the coming months, so that their contributions are captured.
I shall also do a stats page for 2008, when I get time.
Specific points.
I have assumed that Garten's migration started the day after he was last seen at 8.30pm.
I have recorded Mallachie as missing, because the sat-pack stopped sending. Sticking to the facts as we know them, without drawing any further speculative conclusions. I think that this is the most sympathetic solution, without causing anyone any further upset.
Sightings of migrating juveniles is a bit of a grey area, but we have had some sightings and here is a subject where a joint effort could pay dividends, as reading through the blogs is very time consuming. So far, I have only put in Mallachie's star performance, posing for Didier (Xalbai), which everyone loved so much.
If there are any other headings needed, these can be added. The resulting document can be referred to in Sue C's Q and A thread. for future reference.

There was a "false alarm" earlier this season, raised by the publication of a 2008 photo of OVS at the fish farm, but I have never heard of any sightings of him since Aug 08.
Yes that is the last sighting as far as I know.
This picture published in the Daily Mail on 14th April 2010 did cause excitement for half a day until it was established tht it was from 2008.

The updated thread that I promised. New title....... Tiger: On the 'index' thread the link to this works OK, but your text will need editing please, as we already discussed.
For those recently joined the LG group these stats were compliled to record the details of the LG nest and the development of the lives of the chicks while they remained at LG. In 2010 the chicks were not ringed, nor sat tagged, because of adverse weather conditions. Therefore sighting and identification of these three 2010 ospreys now or in the future will be most unlikely. However, should we see in 2012 or later a young osprey or ospreys, returning to LG or nearby, seeking a mate, I am sure that speculation will be rife, at LG and on these blogs.

The data is based on the confirmed data where possible. Odin's 2011 arrival is at the nest, although I believe he was nearby about two hours earlier.
LG confirmation email states the official time as 6.20pm.
Also the assumption is that the second egg failed, which is agreed by all concerned, to my knowledge.
The arrival of the second chick has been debated, but the data is taken from the LG record, they had no sighting of any earlier evidence.
I have used the MS Excel function to calculate days, hours and minutes simultaneously, so the the 'Exact age' for example is derived from NOW() which is shown at the top at 14.48 hours.
I hope you find this a useful record.
I shall post supporting references in due course.

Odin arrival...email from Caroline....unconfirmed at 17.09....then confirmed at 18.20.
"As stated on my blog that day, a male was recorded arriving at 17.09 and confirmed as Odin at 18.20 when he landed on the nest. They first mated at 18.34."
So I took the nest, as his final destination.
