This seems to have been a difficult year for many nests in Scotland (Loch Arkaig being a shining exception). I thought I would share a blog from RSPB regarding Loch Insh to cheer us up. Ian

Thanks for posting great news of this highly successful nest Ian, really cheered me up!

That is wonderful Ian. The nest we haven't been able to talk about for years, despite many folk seeing and photographing it!! I certainly hadn't realised the nest was that old, nor the large number of chicks it has produced over the years. Such a shame as there will be no record of the 'dynasty'.
I think the female is Green DY(04 or 05) and her current male arrived in 2017. The blog mentioned an osprey caught in a fishing line, this is it. And here is a local newspaper report on the rebuilding of the winter damaged nest in January/February 2017, with the help of the team from LG.

How lovely to read about another successful nest. So many have not returned this year for whatever reason. Good luck to these new fledglings, may they have a safe journey to their winter home and that the parents return safely next year.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
