GLASLYN OSPREYS - JULY 2020

.A hasty start to the new month, to get something done in BIRDIE's forced absence and before the possible/probable FIRST OF THE MONTH FREEZE (and I've already got freezing probs here!).

When Birdie is back in she may give me her comprehensive version to insert here :)

Parents and chicks are all doing well, with no real upsets so far.

  • It was KC2 who got the 08:34 fish, and he ate a lot of it.  MrsG eventually came to finish it off but KC4 came to be fed, then KC3 arrived with a little clump afoot Slight smile  Neither got fed because there was some sort of distraction.

First the juvies, then MrsG left.

Later, KC3 brought a stick to the perch but he dropped it when he flew off:

    11:08 KC2 came creating but I don't know why; a few minutes later KC3 was having a little sit-down:

MrsG was watchful on the perch:

Then to nest protesting, and KC4 flew to the perch:

Then KC2 picked up scrappy leftover fish on the nest and flew off with it.

KC4 got wind of summat going on and flew to the nest, where MrsG awaited.

    KC4 shifted a stick under MrsG's watchful eye ;)

Nothing came of the expected event, so KC4 sat down and MrsG went back to the perch, then KC4 flew off.

MrsG came to defend and flew after someone, I can't tell who/what:

KC3 landed and had a stretch and lie down... got up, shouted, flew off:

KC2 did an on-off, MrsG is now on the perch - I imagine they're very ready for lunchtime fish, another fish must surely be overdue.  That's up to 13:30.

  • At last!  I was getting worried.  This is all we could see of Aran delivering a FISH @ 14:55:

    A chick claimed it - KC4!

But KC2 soon stole it Frowning2

Then there seemed to be an intruder episode, with sky shots:

Suddenly the pics aren't posting so I'll start a new post.

Soon Aran brought another fish, thank goodness :)

It was flapping and KC4 brought it dangerously close to the fence:

    Another intrusion:

    Another FISH !!!

Nobody took it so Aran ate some himself:

    MrsG soon took over:

Eventually KC4 left her fish and went to get fed by Mummy Blush  Then KC2 came to get fed too.

I shall be ultra sketchy from now on, as we've seen that the fish situation dramatically improved!

Then Aran turned up on the perch with MrsG and another FISH!

I had to oval-crop this because the sibling beside KC3 was not showing off well:

Two were on the nest and one far off in a tree (untrue colours from not spending enough time on it):

    Same applies:

There may possibly have been another (small? leftover?) fish but not onscreen.

    They've had a full day:

    Just prior to nightcam:

  • Juvies have been on and off the nest individually, no IDs checked.

MrsG just collected a FLOUNDER from Aran:

Two juves are here for the fish but MrsG is keeping hold of it so far.

  • Hi SCYLLA

Mrs G has been feeding 2 of her young but the one on the L just moved away

    C BGGW

  • The family must be miles away because the corvids are making free...

Oh! now I see a chick on the end of the perch.

    I'll catch up asap.
  • Hiya PATILY!  I've been off doing BATS Grin

That's a shame, I did BATS with my bat font but it won't take.  It should have looked like this, only mono:

  • So, great going Scylla thank you
Re one of the above: Breaking: Ospreys change diet to pine cones. Is this the first vegan Osprey

    So, great going

All 3 juves are fab Green heart

Have just been thru up to about 09:20 and am going to throw some snaps in here all at once and see what happens:

    S/he ate this morsel:

    KC4 couldn't care less:

KC4 being the star of the show today :)

KC4 kept hold of this amid competition and got a good feed out of it - I think KC3 has it now but can't see the number well from here:

EDIT - Obviously a lot of downsizing is req'd :(

  • MrsG is standing on a fish, mantling - one chick lying down on the nest.
