The season so far: The resident pair both returned on 16 March - Blue 33(11) at 07:12 and Maya at 13:16. Maya, for the second consecutive year, laid four eggs – the first on 29 March and the other three first seen 4, 6 and 9 April. Maya and Blue 33(11) faithfully incubated the eggs and on day 38, chick #1 hatched 6 May c 13:20 followed by chick #2 on 8 May c 06:10, chick #3 on 10 May c14:45, and chick #4 on 13 May c20:45. On 16 June the chicks were ringed with their blue darvics – chick #1- 080, chick #2 - 081, chick #3 - 082 and chick #4 - 083 - and are all thought to be males.
On 26 June at 16:03, Blue 080 fledged aged 51 days followed by Blue 082 at 06:15 on 29 June aged 50 days and soon 081 and 083 will too.
For the next six weeks or so, the chicks will explore their surroundings perfecting their flying skills and strengthening their wings and for when they migrate. Until then Maya and 33 will protect their young and 33 will continue to bring in fish for his family.

Today,
080 is 80 days old
081 is 78 days old
082 is 76 days old &
083 is 73 days old
08:11 082 tucking into a large fish while two stand by
08:17 082 lifts the fish moving across the nest
08:20 someone is around
08:20 Maya joins 082 and I think 081 and 080
08:20 082 again lifts the fish - hopefully he doesn't attempt to fly off with it!
08:45 082 finishes, flies off and 080 takes the fish
080 tucks in. Maya and 083 wait
08:59 081 takes some fish bits (innards) while 080 eats his fish
09:12 Maya now eating from a bit of the fish.
081 tries to snatch some from 080 as he continues to eat and 083 waits.
09:15 080 finishes and 081 takes the fish
09:16 083 flies off followed by 080. 081 tucks in
09:23 083 returns and waits while 081 continues to feast
09:26 081 flies off leaving the fish. 083 doesn't seem in any hurry to grab it.
09:29 083 pecks at the fish
and soon tucking in
So it would appear that all the juveniles are still here and all have been fed from this fish.
As I type - some bird skimmed along with water startling 083 who flew off with the fish (missed captures). Just hope 083 manages to hold on to it and have some!
