Continued from Manton Bay – May 2020
The history of the Manton Bay nest, breeding stats and links to previous threads can be found here
The season so far: The resident pair both returned on 16 March - Blue 33(11) at 07:12 and Maya at 13:16. For the second consecutive year, Maya laid four eggs – the first on 29 March followed by another three first seen on 4, 6 and 9 April. Maya and Blue 33(11) faithfully incubated the four eggs and on day 38, the first chick hatched 6 May c13:20 followed by Chick #2 on 8 May c06:10, Chick #3 on 10 May c14:45, and Chick #4 on 13 May c20:45.
All four chicks have thrived under the protection of Maya and Blue 33(11) who has once again proved to be a fantastic provider for his family.
In two/three week’s time, the chicks will be ringed and we’ll learn a bit more about them.

patily said:Good Morning KAREN Poor 080 This is a worry I wonder if he fledged unintentionally......a helicopter that took him further than intended
Morning Patity - yes that did cross my mind but he did look ready to go and had his eyes on the perch.
I haven't seen any shakes this morning so am wondering if he is still on the cam post? My worry is these intrusions there has been lately. Hopefully he has not been scared off.
Maya arrives with a stick - the sun is coming up now
05:00 waiting on the nest for 33 to bring breakfish and for 080 to come back
Just seen some little cam shakes just now so hopefully 080 is still there and gets himself down and back to the nest soon
Oh NO!! - I saw who could only be 080 come down from the perch and he missed the nest!!
I switched on the record button - bad video but 3 secs in we can just see 080 at the right hand side missing the nest!
still from video
Maya has taken off - now I am worried
Must go for a bit - Hopefully 080 is back on the nest when I return. BFN
Still just 3 on the nest...
Great early morning posts Karen, lovely sunrises.....
It is such a worry when they fledge, all you want to do is see them back safely on the nest.
I can never relax each season until every chick has stayed safe until migration day, even then you worry when they leave and head into the big wide world.
