NEW badger cull petition from Wild Justice

  • Alan Birds of Poole Harbour are asking for info about the Scilly Isles bird. Seemingly KJ7, blue ringed on right leg. Not listed on UK Ospreys.

    Birdies LG DU update.

  • In reply to ALAN PETRIE:

Alan, We are about an hour away from Fishlake Meadows--not sure if we are allowed to go that far from home on what the unenlightened might consider 'not essential' travel!

    Kind regards,

    Ann

  • In reply to Gardenbirder:

    Ann,
You are allowed to go as far as you want for your excercise.

    Richard B

  • Thanks, Richard, but have you been to Fishlake Meadows? Of course things may have changed since the last time we visited, but the last time we went there was not a lot of exercise involved--unfortunately! Park the car on a side road, couple minutes walk to the best viewing spot, clamber down the short slope, set up the scope and look around. Usually there have been one or two more local birders there to tell us if there are any Ospreys about and if so, where they are. Stand around for a bit having a good look, attempt to read any ring numbers and eventually head for home (in our case, when the knees begin hurting!)

    Kind regards,

    Ann

  • Looking at the amount of people heading to the beaches it sounds much more peaceful going to Fishlake.
I know where I'd rather go.

  • Ha ha, Richard--I expect we'd agree with you about where we'd rather be! If there are still reports of Ospreys there once we've passed the 12 weeks of stay-at-home for, shall we say, the more life-experienced among us, we'll possibly attempt an excursion.
Alan, Many thanks for your regular sightings reports.

    Kind regards,

    Ann
