Yes, engineer has been. He said the thermostat had gone, so he replaced it.
ANNETTE - I have a contract with Scottish Gas so they come out almost immediately.

I'm thinking about a new boiler next year. The yearly charge is getting silly because of the age of the boiler.

ROSY - I'm sorry that family circumstances have changed. I hope that your dear granddaughter will settle in school and at home. I think you and your OH are absolute stars to have spent two weeks entertaining a ten year old. I don't think I could manage that - but then, one never knows until it arises!

Saturday here was dull and mostly wet, at 17 to 22 degrees variable.  Today by contrast was sunny and 27 degrees again most of the day.  J and I were both very peelie wally yesterday; I am a bit better today although he isn’t.  So all weekend plans were cancelled.  Don’t remember much about Saturday, except that I decided we should play trivial pursuit in the evening to motivate my brain as I had been falling asleep all day.  I did spend some time in the garden today – for the annual celebration of digging the first of our potato crop – a good size and very nice to eat!

ROSY – sorry about your family – so sad for you, but I am pleased your Granddaughter and her mother are staying in touch.

LINDA – good to see that wee Rosie is thriving!  Sorry about repeat of smelly dog!  Sorry it rained at the garden centre – seems we were almost unique not having any today although it was forecast!

ANNETTE – your beach day sound idyllic!

AQ – good to know you are enjoying some cool, but sorry the clouds are not producing rain for farmers!

PAT – I hope you weren’t caught in any flooding today down there (– and everyone else too, of course).

HEATHER – sorry about the boiler!  Glad you got a quick response from B Gas engineer – they are very good – and often it is a lad from round the corner who comes to us when we need!

Sorry I am not more fluent – I think my brain is still somewhere else!

Diane - thanks for the start off for the week - keep cool

After a couple of very hot days for us it has now cooled down and in fact it has been raining for most of the day, felt quite cold tonight but have warmed up.

Heather B, that's good even for a Sunday, for them to come out. Glad you got it fixed.

Rosy - understand that there have been family problems. Do hope that they will be resolved and well done for looking after a 10 year old for 2 weeks.

OG - reversal with the weather, you had a lovely sunny day today, we had very miserable weather and quite cool, still it can only get better!!

Holiday club starts on Tuesday so Dau is going in tomorrow to help with the set up - should be a good week for the kids. attending.

PAT – Many Scots evicted by the Clearances ended here in Aussieland. If you look at a map of SA, you would notice lots of familiar names as towns were named for “home”. I have not been to Mull (just Skye, Orkneys & the north), but I can imagine the sparseness. Our Glenelg is a beach suburb, very popular for tourists. Jetty Road (main street) is cluttered with City-Bay tram, eating places, small shops of every kind and, because it is beachside, many hotels & apartments from luxury to backpackers.

OG – I hope you and J are feeling better.

ANNETTE – Last night it was raining while I was watching TV and when I woke 2.30 am. It has cleared this morn with blue sky again. Nevertheless it is too soggy for weeding! May to Sept are our wettest months. June rainfall was below average and I expect July the same.

Good morning. Woke up more awake (if that makes sense!), and J seems better too. Must have both picked up some weird virus somewhere! I shall venture out to M&S with OH after lunch.

J has tried phoning to ask about the much delayed eye op - they say they still have no consultant who does that specialist operation - does anyone know about a) private eye surgery or b) right to referral to a different hospital? He is now about to try whether anyone will tell him his thyroid biopsy result!

After rain overnight and early morning, weather is improving here - still hot!

OG - I think that J's GP should refer him somewhere else if he can't be treated locally.
I believe that some patients are referred to a private facility at no cost if an NHS option is unavailable.
My OH had private treatment on a few occasions over the years and that was to expedite things because I wasn't happy and wanted investigations done pronto. Usually through his GP but more recently I just phoned the consultants secretary and made a private appointment. OH was already in the system for that specialty so it was possible.

Thanks, HEATHER. Might have to consider doing it through GP but will need to wait for result re Thyroid first., - can't risk having him booked in for two things at the same time! The Christie endocrine dept say no result is yet available - I reckon it's got caught up in staff holidays!

Turned into a lovely afternoon/evening here. Now to look at tomorrow's forecast! … Hmm - sunshine and showers looks quite good - just wish we knew which to expect when! It'll be another of those inside/outside days - usually finding ourselves outside at the wrong time!
