Hi all: First off, con't miss the last page of last week's chat for lovely photo of Alan's hibiscus and OG's very informative shots of the nest at LG, showing the perch under the nest where chick #1 likes to sit.
OG. Assume plumber on the list for next week. So Boat of Garten actually has something to do with a real boat! I thought it was some obscure Scottish vernacular-ish term that had nothing to do with a boat. There was a nature program here last week about "preparing" an environment for some species that are living in an area that is expected to be threatened by higher ocean levels in the coming years. As with the Lapwings, the change has to be made gradually.
Cirrus. A 12-mile hike! I probably burned a couple of hundred calories just thinking about it.
Was in the garden all day - as I type have the soaker hose going on the camellias, which I fed and which need deep watering about twice in the summer; they're putting out buds now. Also fed the roses and plumeria. Found a volunteer duranta repens growing in one of the plumeria pots - I thought it was familiar but only recognized it today. Sun came out around 11 and lovely cool evening now.
Hi dibnlib - Hope Dillon is slowly improving. Thanks for the lovely pics (especially the poppies!) Your new jacket sounds gorgeous, I love that colour. Good Luck with the teeth!
Brenda Just read about your daughter's Op. Nice that you can be there to offer support, these things are not much fun are they. Hope all is OK and it helps with whatever it is.
Heather: A grape vine?? Where you live!!! My son bought a house with a vine on the south facing rear wall 3 years ago but has yet to pluck an edible grape from it. He lives in the Midlands. (Will you be bringing out your own wine label sometime?? !)
OG : Such pretty flowers - I love meadows!
Margobird: Have a good time at Goodwood and tell us later if you won anything! (No dancing, by the way! - you must act with decorum!)
We have a Buddleia & I havn't seen much of it close up in the last week as you have to cross a very wet lawn to get to the bottom of the garden where it is. The flowers look as gorgeous as ever, but I don't know if there are as many butterflies on it this year, probably not in this weather. We do seem to have bees in the garden so not a problem there.
Enjoyed my chatty lunch with Friend (ham roll with steaming mugs of homemade Tomato soup) after trundling around Sainsburys and M & S. She is coming with me to look at stoves next week; I did see one I liked in Currys this morning but need to see more options before deciding.
Have a Good Weekend, All. Hope you get the rain, or not, accordingly!
Hi all. Have only had time for a quick read through all this week's posts. i couldn't possibly remember and comment on everrything - brain isn't up to it. I hope all those under the weather (including Dillon) are now feeling better. I went to my doc on Tuesday - female, newly-hatched (she still had her juvenile plumage!). She had me performing all sorts of manoeuvres with legs and feet, then told me I had good mobility! She didn't see me walk off to the x-ray dept of the local hospital. Now have to wait 3 wks for results.
Heather I'm another technophobe. I'm about to try to post my 'corn-snake' pic - if it works I'll put my 'easy' instructionns on your page. Here goes!
Oops! Try again later
Back for another try!
Eureka!
Thanks to all who are attempting to get me out of the Dark Ages. I will try tomorrow morning when, hopefully, brain is clear-- (For Dibnlib - we were at Cafe 1, voucher for a Christmas present - had a great meal).
Lindybird - Yes, a grapevine, I have put a couple of pics on the gallery, because I don't quite, yet, know how to put pics on this page. But I am getting help, so maybe tomorrow----. OH brought the vine as a cutting from the glasshouses at the Big House when he retired. It now grows outside here, but if you look at the pictures you can see that it is semi protected on three sides by our house. Even so, we are very proud of it. Last year someone came and removed many many bunches with the intention of trying to make wine. We haven't heard how he got on--

Just had a friend who wanted to dog walk on the phone, but although Dillon had a really good walk off the lead this aft, think we will keep it short and sweet this eve, just in case there are further probs if we overdo it so had to say no.

I've posted a note of my method of posting pics, on your page.

Right, before I read through A WHOLE WEEK of lovely Chat, I'll try some pics. Firstly, I mentioned ages ago that sparrows nest in pipes into our walls (blocked off at the back so they don't go into the roof-space).
No wonder I get woken up in the morning. Here's a close up.
And these young ones are the latest to fledge from our ex-dairy (excuse fuzziness)

Thankyou, patriciat -
Good evening all a bit late on here but OH has gone back to finish something at work so I thought I would have a quick catch up. Thanks for the pic DjoanS of the grass snake and the humerous post (athough painful for you). We will enjoy ourselves at Goodwood tomorrow and Lindybird I will behave myself although I do get a bit excited and rather vocal if I pick a winner, lots of jumping up and down but I hasten to add all done in a ladylike way. The enclosure we go in is a bit posh so one does have to behave themselves. We go in the particular enclosure because we know the toilet facilities will be good and it is worth paying the extra ticket money for this. Have a good weekend all and take care. Goodenight from me.
TerryM what a gorgeous picfture of the sparrows.
