The season so far: Maya arrived back 14 March and Blue 33(11) on 23 March. Maya laid 4 eggs 2, 5, 8 and 11 April hatching 11, 11, 13 and 17 May. Maya and 33 continue to work hard to raise their young and 33 is once more proving to be an excellent provider bringing in plenty of fish to feed his family.

Maya is snuggled down with #4 beneath her and the other three chicks around her. They really are getting big.
Having a little shut eye

20:52 Fish and I am pleased to see nothing trailing from 33
Maya grabs it. Unfortunately it is a small fish! Chicks line up - #4 gets a piece first
20:53 Oh, #1 turns on #4
20:54 #1 then turns on #3
20:57 #1 again attacks #4. #3 has moved back in and gets some fish. #1 getting most
21:03 #3 turns away and only #1 is eating. #2 is up and down waiting
21:05 #1 now turns away and #2 goes up but the fish is gone ..... devoured !!!
It was a small fish and #2 got nothing and #4 only one bit.
Hopefully 33 will bring in another!
SheilaFE said:Thank you Karen for your amazing reporting and captures. I don't know how you are able to identify all the chicks. Just wonderful!
Thanks Sheila.
About the chicks' IDs - #3 and #4 we can tell by size and although #1 and #2 are very, very alike there is a slight difference on the stripe on their heads (chick #1, the stripe is much thinner at its forehead sometimes looks like a break whereas on #2 it is thicker).
I posted a couple of days ago how I am able to tell them apart. Here is a link to the post should you be interested :-)
Night cam is on and Maya is snuggled down once more with the chicks.
Hopefully 33 brings in one of his whoppers tomorrow morning.
Morning ALL -
Maya in the process of feeding the chicks. Hard to ID any chicks for the sun glare
06:02 One of the older chicks having a wing flap as Maya continues to feed one of the younger chicks
06:05 All chicks huddled up snoozing and must be full for there is still fish and Maya now having some herself.
Maya has been off and back with some straw which she is tearing up and placing around the chicks
