LOCH GARTEN NEST - 16 MARCH-19 APRIL 2019

This thread will continue daily until we decide that nest activities require the 2019 DAILY UPDATE to commence :)

Trying posted first live stream snap of 2019:

Nota bene - NO GLARE !!!

Not to be outdone (even tho she was) Scylla poked her nose in - what a shame that it shows how much better the VLC picture is, compared to (her) screen-capture:

No nest activities yet seen, it really is too bad !!! ;-D

  • Now it's gone black with no words or symbols on it...

    Next:

  • I can't bring myself to decide whether hope is lost, except to say that I cannot bear the thought of EJ returning to another season like the last :'(

I would dearly love there to be a good male waiting for her, then I'd be willing her to return with all my heart.

  • Thank you CRInger. This is so beautiful and apt!
  • Good morning all. I see still no EJ! Worrying about her now :( Maybe still time though.
  • But exciting times ahead with (probably) two new younger birds to thrill us for many many years as EJ has done.
I prefer to simply think of her as deciding to 'retire' - can't be bothered with that long exhausting flight anymore, as opposed to perishing on migration. I really do not think that .
I think Lady decided to retire also and Lassie had been waiting in the wings for a couple of years if memory serves.
Yes, this nest at LG is still prime real estate for the right couple..
  • Hi Scylla.. I dont know a lot but been following EJ/Lochgarten 15 years but I'm not very retentive of info so value opinion of people like yourself.. I'm delighted to be following your posts even if they arent very happy atm... I was wondering last year why EJ laid eggs last year when George was such a bad provider ( I've been told that the female weighs up the male and delays laying til she's sure he's a good one). I wondered if she was getting old and tired and he was the easy option at the time.. ( purely personal opinion).. Like you I adore her and cried over Deshar and Odin. As we've just come back from 10 yrs abroad, have booked to go to LG in four weeks time , it is to be my belated special birthday treat.. Will go whatever happens but.....
  • I've been thinking that, Cirrus. I'm imagining EJ in the sun somewhere, fishing and saying "It's too far for an old gal like me, to bother going on one of these blind dates again!" -- "I'll just stay here and relax."

Hopefully a new female will soon snap up this des res. Maybe even one of EJs offspring.

Ah, Deshar. I too cried buckets over him. Not enough fish whilst he was growing to support his brain growth. (in my opinion) and hence his foray over the north sea. Precious lad.

And Odin, my darling darling boy..

May your birthday prove a true delight Viv M with all your heart's desires fulfilled at LG with a new family soliciting fish like crazy from dad.
