Hi all: Just a heads up - we're getting Server Error messages but posts are making it onto the thread. Just means you have to keep reloading the page. Check out last few posts of previous Weekly Chat to find out what kind of visitors TerryM had at her bird feeder yesterday. I blathered a bit but nothing to miss the ospreys for; pretty quiet in fact with some of the regulars off on vacation.
Hi, all. Storms moving in after today's very high heat/humidity. No warnings in effect, so shouldn't be dangerous. Will catch up properly tomorrow. OG: TERRIFIC photos!!! Lindy: I love Wallace & Gromit. Excellent pics. Alan: Lovely finches. DjoanS: I think the little owlets got plenty to eat last night. Yay! Hi to Annette and AQ and everyone.
Evening all: Another busy day, but lots of errands/projects I've had on my list for some time so is nice to be working my way through those. Most of the remaining must-dos involve the house/garden/computer stuff, so won't be roaring around the countryside and bustling in and out of the car with bags, packages, dry cleaning, things to be fixed, etc. Did make time to buy a bottle of wine and some smoked salmon though! OH called and is seeing his friend for dinner tomorrow (Saturday) night. My daughter is coming down to spend the night Monday and we'll probably go to the local zoo and putter about and see what trouble we can get into!
OG: No fear - did not tackle the piano. The first thing I noticed about the Mallards was that they were wonderfully camouflaged.
Lindybird: Had to laugh - a jigsaw puzzle and the baby isn't even here. :-). I used to buy books years advanced for my grandkids 'coz I love books and wanted to instill a love of reading in them early. Not sure I was successful. :-(
Sorry not to be more specific in responding. Was up late last night and then woke up a normal time this morning, so off to bed. Take care all.
I think EJ just delivered a fish and left. Not as large as her usual fare. All I saw was the back of the bird maybe it was Odin . Titch ( I think) sitting on the perch on the right side waiting to get some of the fish. He may be disappointed. The fish is not that large. And it is still alive
Clearly it is the eldest eating . He is had not problem killing the fish and eating the head.
Titch and middle very frustrated when the head is still on .

Well fans, I had a serious dose of ENS when I got back from work last night. So I called in on Chat to see how you were all doing. I so enjoyed the lovely pics of the Lake District and Scotland (Alan , OG). It cheered me up before going to bed. Normal 0 false false false ). And WandG Lindy. :)
So, I’m out hiking later when my friend picks me up but this just to say :
Good morning all – it’s so nice to know you are ‘out there’. I wish you all a really good day doing whatever it is you are doing (and seriously hope your packing up of the kitchen IS going fast now DJoan – new kitchen on Monday (right?) . I’ll look in much later to read about what you’ve been doing today. Normal 0 false false false
Trust the storms pass uneventfully Diane.
Well, its Saturday again & I don't know how we got here! The week went by so fast, I have jetlag! We enjoyed the Show yesterday but Husband looked a bit dizzy at one point & stumbled so I said that he wasn't really over the ailment he'd had in the week. Then I noticed he looked very tired so we had a good long sitdown at lunchtime (when it is difficult to find a seat near the lovely Bandstand (live music) ) so we ate our picnic there & stayed an hour. Later he admitted he wasn't quite right, and then, when we started queuing for an icecream, I felt dizzy , too! Sat on the grass with our icecreams as we took two lightweight outdoor cushions with us. Decided we hadn't quite got over our whateveritwas, and went home early, mid-afternoon. By then we had seen everything we wanted to see, anyway. The Show was good but we thought that the standard of gardens was low compared to previous years: only a few were inspiring, or, "OOoooh! Look!" - an enormous predominance of heather/violet/lilac/purple this year, in almost every single garden! (yes, I know, Annette that makes me very fashionable with my garden!) Some of the 'arty' ones just wern't gardens at all, and there was a distinct lack of people standing around them looking.
Must go to shops now & stock up for weekend, Eldest Son coming Sunday to be 'fed up'.
Have a good Weekend, All.
Well, do take it easy stamping around the supermarket Lindy - do you think perhaps you should both just make a quick visit to the doctor and have a check up? I do hope you FULLY recover soon.
Good morning original goldfinch and such lovely photographs, looks very peaceful there.
ALICAT and LIndybird sounds as though you have all had the same virous. Dizzy spells - not nice. Hope you all recover soon.

Just a quick visit to say Hello to All and to thank OG for her beautiful pictures. Linda, you both obviously still have the bug. Try and slow down and take care of yourself. Alicat, hope you are still improving.
Must go now and will catch up later.
OG It would be so good to hear of ospreys back at Loch an Eilean. One can imagine all the wonderful (and not so wonderful) memories that could have been recorded there if cameras had been available. Hopefully any future nests will be better protected than those of yesteryear.
Mind you it is a bit unlikely as this new population of ospreys seems to prefer to build in trees rather than on the ground.

Lovely pics OG
I have been to Loch an Eilean myself and found it a wonderful place. It was rather a weird and sad feeling though, being a lover of ospreys, to walk where I presume Lewis Dunbar must have walked before swimming across to raid the poor ospreys. He apparently did this for five consecutive years from 1848-1852.
