Hi all: Just a heads up - we're getting Server Error messages but posts are making it onto the thread. Just means you have to keep reloading the page. Check out last few posts of previous Weekly Chat to find out what kind of visitors TerryM had at her bird feeder yesterday. I blathered a bit but nothing to miss the ospreys for; pretty quiet in fact with some of the regulars off on vacation.
Diane: Flight of the Condor had to have been on PBS back in the 70s! I'm wrong, according to Google, it was the 80s and guess who did it: David Attenborough. Of course!
AQ; Weather forecasters got it wrong - again? How unusual! Ha! Thanks for the translation; thought it was some strange Aussie term instead of universal "stuffed up" lingo. That second one - not a complete idiot - very good! Reminds me of a bumper sticker that circulated when George W. Bush (a Texan) was elected Prez: "Somewhere in Texas a village is missing an idiot." OK. No more politics. Promise! Night all! I'm outta here.
Morning, Everyone, & Happy Monday to you.
Thanks to night shift for amusing posts, and to Alan for the lovely pony picture - aaaaah!
Hope that you soon recover, AQ - be kind to yourself. Thanks for the tip re the spacing - I didn't know that & will try it as always feel conscious about how much room these things take up.
I'm off out for most of the day today so hope all is OK with LG, and that #3 doesn't fledge yet, at least not until I'm back again!
Following our rather persistant 'visitor' last week, here is a Monday Smile which I thought appropriate:
A quote from George Bernard Shaw : "I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it."
Lindybird thanks for the Monday Smile and hope you have a good day out.
Margobird
aquilareen sorry you have not been feeling well, hope the cold leaves you soon. Your two "saying" are well suited to a certain intruder.
Hi Diane always like reading your posts. I think life is one learning curve. Ospreys are my learning curve you gain new information every day. I have been on a horse a couple of years ago. I go and stay on a farm in Devon in October and had an assisted ride on Arnie who is a giant of a horse but so gentle. I must say I felt quite scared being so high up but at least I did it and if I never do it again will always be grateful for that chance. One downside of getting older is having fear of things. When you are a child you worry about nothing. I am off to the farm again in October with a friend who sho is blind but she gains a lot of pleasure in being able to make contact with the farm animals and we have a great time together.
Good morning Alan and thanks for the pic of that gorgeous Shetland pony.
Afternoon all and thanks for all the overnight and early morning chat. Still trying to get into the swing of things after a week in the Lakes. Here is a pic of Thirlmere. I tried to show how low the water level is but it does not look too bad in the photo:
ANNETTE thanks for that, lets hope the weather is ok. I am with you, no sugar on rasps or strawbs and when I am being really good no cream either!!!!
For those following the Daily Update today:
The words chunter, chunder, and chunner originated in the Midlands and N. England. Historical records show that the words were in use in the decade of 1590-1600. The Scots word channer is also mentioned for this time period. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/chunter So I'd say the word chunner exists. :-)
Hi, I have heard the word 'chunnering' , with the meaning as used here, and I live in Cumbria but my parents -and theirs - are from Yorkshire.
