HAPPY NEW WEEK!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

I'm including a link to this 1-minute video just because I thought it was funny. It's a parody of the David Attenborough BBC Planet Earth scene about the Bird of Paradise male trying to attract a mate. It made me laugh out loud. I thought others maybe could use a laugh, too.

  • Good Morning.  Sunny and dry again here! (What can I put in the wash?.........) Record breaking temps elsewhere in Europe, yesterday.

AQ - Never thought about it, but you rarely see lakes shown on Aussie travelogues. We do know, of course, that lack of water is a major prob.

Diane - Thanks for the link to the "cabins"  in that holiday park. Sounds like heaven for dogs, never mind the owners! Hope you enjoy your holiday break with the other two doggies :-)

Lindy- My Doctor calls that "white coat syndrome". My blood pressure is fine until I get to the doctor's office

I mentioned that to the Nurse, too!!

  • OG AND EE   Belated Golden Wedding best wishes to you both

  • Third day of dank greyness here. I am still trying to work out what planet we are on!!!!

I finally now know what my medical problem is. It is a seriously low vitamin B level. I need a course of 10 vitamin B injections, one every other day. First appointment is 13 April! Anyone noticed the time gap? They can only book up five appointments as the system does not go any further, and none are a day apart. Thank goodness younger SD is now only 6 minutes drive away otherwise this would be a nearly impossible task being a full time carer. At least I am now going forward anyway. We also have a VERY good pharmacist so I now have a stop gap measure in place, as he said it is not perfect but at least it is something.

  • Good Grief, FB!  -- April????

  • Oops, meant August!!!. Still a time gap!

  • Whew!  Glad you don't have to wait nine months, FB.  Hopefully the treatment will go well for you.

Thank goodness for that!!  - hope all goes OK for you. At least you now know what ails you.

  • Hi, all. Excuse this long post, but I'm bursting to tell this story. I just had one of the most remarkable experiences of my life!!!

I was out on my enclosed porch. As I opened the door to go back into the main house, I glanced out at my car to make sure my tires weren't losing air (I haven't driven for a while). I was startled to see an ENORMOUS BIRD sitting close to my driveway by the woods. She had her back to me, but she'd turned her head to watch me.

I did a double take. For a second, I actually questioned my sanity because the bird was so BIG! At first, I thought it was a Sandhill Crane, but I walked closer to the window and saw how large her body was. To my utter disbelief, I realized it was a female Wild Turkey! She was incredibly tall! She had 4 offspring next to her, and they were about a third of the way grown. They weren't old enough to be called juveniles, but they were older than chicks (they'd lost the baby bird fuzz).

I reached inside the door to grab my phone to take a photo, but she saw me moving and ushered the young back into the woods. I got a good look at her and the young ones. I've seen Wild Turkeys a few times eating in the corn field up on the ridge, but I've never seen one that close before. I never dreamed I had a Wild Turkey nest somewhere on or near my patch.

When Wild Turkey females have young, they band into groups of several hens and broods, so there are probably more in the woods by my house.

    I'm astonished!

You can see photos of the females and read a description HERE.

  • I did some gardening, and tidying up, then my Friend G arrived. She looked a little better and says she's put three pounds back on: she is eating what she fancies, though she says that strangely, vegetables don't seem to agree with her. Her daughter is going to visit next week, so she's looking forward to that.

This afternoon, did the dreaded ironing, then we went to fetch the car which has been fixed - it was the water pump, apparently. Whilst he had her stripped down, he noticed that the cam belt needs changing, too, so he did that. The bill was quite a lot, but when we analysed it, the two parts themselves were the smallest items! - as usual, it was the labour involved plus of course, the V.A.T.

My OH also took Ruby to another garage where he had the air con gadget refilled, as she never has worked properly. Whoopie! Now I'll be whizzing along, with the windows closed.

Had a word with our Youngest, and they're all packed and excited to be going to Wales: they should be arriving soon.
