Continued from here
This is the thread which will cover the second year of the osprey translocation to Poole

Thanks 58willow. It’s hard work but very rewarding and hopefully will mean we have breeding ospreys here in a few years’ time.

Hopefully sooner than that Alison. We have a couple of females here now, just need the males.

I do not know about other people but I have a really good feeling about this translocation already.
It seems to me that it is ideally placed and has so many advantages.
It would be fantastic if we got the first nest in 2019 as well as the return of at least two of the two year olds.
Also what is apparent is that the combination of social media and new technology coupled with just good old volunteer power (yes Alison) is speeding up our understanding of osprey behaviour.
I feel pleased to be a stakeholder in this project.
I share your views Tiger and hope that this project can bring as much success as it's predecessor did.
Birdies LG DU update.
I like the idea that adults are hanging around already!

Things certainly seem to be going well, with the new Osprey's and others around, fingers crossed indeed for hopefully nesting next year.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
It has been clear to me for a very long time that adults will only risk nesting where they can see evidence of successful nesting. Clearly the adults at Poole think that there is suddenly successful nesting at Poole.
This could be the wonderful scientific discovery.
Tweet from Poole.
Thanks MIKE My little niece has gone to Poole We told her about the ospreys Hope she's lucky enough to see some flying around the harbour
There had been previous attempts to lure in ospreys at Poole using artificial nests and model birds. This approach has worked in other species but didn't do the trick for the ospreys.
However some ospreys will risk new areas such the first birds to nest at Loch Garten and in Wales.
