Mrs G and Arran on the perch. Chicks preening.
All present here. Mrs G watching over the chicks who she fed earlier and Aran on the end of the perch just in view.
Both parents just visible on the perch One chick sleep, one resting but awake and the other preening
Mrs G feeding the chicks. Aran must just have delivered it. He is on the perch. The live streaming is stopping more often than it is streaming for me just now, probably because the so-called free WIFI here in the holiday flat is very patchy. Not sure what the fish is It is low tide at the moment at Porthmadog (where the Glaslyn river reaches the sea) with only a trickle of water near the Cob.
If you happened to be watching this nest for part of yesterday afternoon, you might have seen both adults looking rather worried. That was because there were two farm vehicles, cutting and baling the hay/grass in the field behind the nest. You can see the round bales still on the field now. Both adults flew off several times and circled the area, having told the chicks to play dead, but as nothing dire seemed to be transpire, the adults eventually calmed down for a bit. However, they were not happy again when the operation came very close to the nest, but once the work was finished, calm was restored again. Not sure if the farmer plans to put plastic around the bales or when they will be hauled away, but there will be more short disturbances to come. Luckily the weather is dry now and the chicks are old enough to be left on their own for a time. Hope the collecting of bales comes before the chicks fledge--otherwise it might be more worrying than it is now.
Kind regards, Ann
Transferred to August, oops.
