The moment we had all been waiting and hoping for. EJ seen at Rothiemurchus fishing and they posted a little FB video of her drying off (edit: video was from Tuesday)! Here she is with her fish on the branch below the nest perch back at LG, as reported on FB and Moffer. © RSPB - Loch Garten and Carnyx Wild
Sheila remarked she may not be around much for viewing now that she has sussed out the situation for herself. But it is merciful to us viewers, I think. That is all I think is fit to report! At the moment she has just turned the eggs before tucking her head back in to resume sleeping. 12.04 EJ is calling. I assume GJ is in view somewhere. She has not got up
Birdie's DU Summaries 2018 https://www.imagicat.com/
Very vocal, and has her piercing eyes look.
It seems to be more an angry call at GJ than an intruder call. I did wonder whether I had heard the very odd, and feint, chip from off the nest over the past half hour. She did look around at the time, but it didn't warrant any action.
EJ is up and backing to the rim, and still calling... but no sign of GJ. Her calls are getting less intense, with the odd squeak too.
EJ has flown
Her calls are becoming plaintive...12.18 she has flown over the back.
GJ has landed with sweet pipes. He wants to incubate!
EJ puts a stop to that
She is calling for fish????
He has flown
Well, blow me, it's GJ on the nest and attempting to incubate. And EJ lands and he backs off. She calls at him. He fiddles with a stick, and has flown...
Well, I give up trying to think what is going on. She looked very submissive when calling at him on the nest. EJ continues to call, from the rim.
