Another morning and daytime was spent in stress, tension, frustration, despair...
EJ certainly had a very stressful start to the day, it's a wonder her voice didn't wear out! Intruder(s) not seen on-cam.
(Per Moffer)
When she wasn't shouting she was watching and waiting:
(Per MaryGK)
Later in the day EJ appeared to have managed a dip - let's hope that rinsed out some of the biting mites ;)
GJ deigned to turn up with clumps and/or for mating attempts, then, at 23 minutes past 7 in the evening! (should have been that time in the morning, GJ!) he arrived with a very respectable brown trout (thank you, Bucky).
(Per me)
However, EJ was gone 35 minutes max - please may she have eaten it all and not lost any.
Some discord yesterday, as everyone has their own way of dealing with what we all know to be a poor situation for our very precious heroine, EJ :-* We've been thru worse, and mutual support will carry us thru - to who knows where?

So it could be down to whether EJ can tough it out, and not get so hungry that she leaves the eggs unattended so long that they 'perish'... assuming that GJ doesn't take over incubation while she's off trying to feed herself.
(I've always regretted that GJ didn't kick out the first egg when he came on the scene.)

See Ok we got a chick.....
Very interesting Tiger, thanks for the link. Given EJ laid her eggs on 17, 20 and 24 April, the hatching window opens on 22 May. If George does indeed step up to the fishing plate, as Dennis did eventually, we have another 16 days nail-biting to go, and that's assuming egg 1 hatches
Thanks, Everyone, for the pics and posts. What a drama this nest is yet again, sadly! Poor EJ. Hope the male catches on fairly quickly and does the fish thing properly!
Tiger, I hope you are right and that your optimism is rewarded and that all ends well here!
Kind regards, Ann

Is it not interesting the similarity of the rhetoric?
