HAPPY NEW WEEK!
I hope everyone has a wonderful spring week! I chose this photo for the week for a reason. The last time I went to town for groceries and supplies, I stopped to take some items to my relative who broke her hip. I arrived home very late. I was unloading the car in the darkness, barely able to see with a torch (flashlight), and suddenly I heard a booming loud call, "Who cooks for you! Who cooks for you all!" That's the call of a Barred Owl! The sound was coming from a tall tree on my creek levee.I was just about finished getting everything inside, when the bird called again. This time, he made his "monkey call." Barred Owls can make a wild series of calls that sound just like a big, loud primate. Seriously. Many years ago, we had a Barred Owl pair nesting on this patch, and my Mom swore we had a Bigfoot living in the woods! I was so happy to hear the big owl, and I hope he stays!Barred Owl (Strix varia)U.S. National Park ServicePhoto labeled Public Domain (Copyright Free)
Thank you, bjane. I may have to do that, as I've not had a reply to my complaint, yet, to the suppliers, who were selling through Amazon.
OG - Glad you're packed and ready to go: have a lovely time, and I hope everything goes well with your "trial run".
Sitting down now to see at least the beginning of the Eurovision Song Contest, as I'm interested to see our entry- she seems very good. We are supposed to be the 9th entry. However, unless my OH goes to sleep I doubt if I'll get to watch the whole thing, as he thinks it's a bore....
Edit: The furniture was a large dresser, and they were trying to fit it around a corner and into the hallway. However, to get around the corner, it had to be tilted, and then it was impossible to stand it right way up in the limited space. Hard to measure, I suppose [ shrug ]. :-)
LINDY I have to agree with your OH..... and I think it is on for over 3 hours. Nightmare.
We have had a beautiful day. We had planned to go to the vintage rally in town anyway, but the blue sky and warm sunshine made it all the more enjoyable. Our favourite was a 1939 Alves, bought in Glasgow and has remained in Inverness ownership ever since. It had been lovingly restored and interestingly my OH knew one of the mechanics involved in working on the car. He is the father of one of the people he supports. Lots of other beauties to admire as well.
Can't remember if I said that we came across a Briard on a walk the other day. He was a youngster and full of beans. My goodness he must take some grooming!!!
Sorry if I'm butting in here, but I want to post, but not Osprey related.
Sorry for my sudden absence from the DU. I was trying to do 5 things at once (as usual) and went to step over my dog. She moved and I overstepped to avoid her legs, twisted and fell. I'm ok, just sore and bruised. I can only just sit to post. Sorry.
Thought I should post here and not on DU as I don't want to get picked on again by a certain poster.
Oh dear! I am sorry for your soreness Moffer, please take good care of it all. Do you have some ointments and soft cushions and maybe someone to inspect the joints and crucial bits? Or make tea for you? Oh dear oh dear...
(((Hugs)))
2016: first time in history an Osprey nested in the NL. 2018: 2 active nests! 2019 a storm interferes. 2020: a third active nest in a tree!
Thank you for letting us know about your accident {{{Moffer}}} and I'm very sorry about it, that's more than all you need :'(
I don't think the "pink rule" is intended to keep such info off the DU, but I understand, in view of recent unwelcome posts, why you came here to write. I hope you've got something to put on the bruises - arnica gel?
(IMO, the pink rule should deter people from asking lots of general osprey questions that cause major digressions.)
IMAGICAT
Sorry to hear your news Moffer. Hope to catch up with you in the morning.
Birdies LG DU update.
What a shock for you, I am sorry, Moffer. Hope you recover soon - these things can shake you up, sometimes more than you expect {{ HUGS }}
I came on because I'm a bit shaken up myself. I cooked some chicken for dinner tonight and as I stirred it I thought about how sad it was that there should be yet another terrorist attack --- this was at 6.45pm. Just now, I have been looking at the headlines on the BBC Site. There has been an attack in Paris tonight, with at least two deaths, and several badly injured. I know that these things happen often at weekends, and there are other explanations, but this is not the first time I've had premonitions. Sorry to ramble.
So sorry to hear this Moffer, they always tend to lay in the way, and we try not to disturb them by stepping over, then they move! I suppose we would do the same. You take care, hope you aren't to badly bruised. Dogs are such good company.
