Well, it certainly was another exciting day at the nest. While we are delighted that Junior is stepping up to the plate, we couldn't figure out how he been able to deliver two good sized fish within about half an hour. After much speculation about where he could have gone to fish and have time to catch and bring another, RSPB Loch Garten FB posted that an intruder male had brought the first trout (BNN's video), just before the 2nd delivery by Junior! Junior's looked much better, too, and she looked like she wanted to take it off him.© RSPB - Loch Garten and Carnyx Wild_______________________________________The Daily Update is for recording nest events only, allowing for banter, though—any questions or conversations can happen on the Osprey Chat thread. Thank you!
The events surrounding the two fish an intruder are still unclear. Then of course there were the subsequent "trout variety" discussions: Blue trout, sea trout, brown trout or rainbow trout??? It is a mystery to me, though whatever the first one was, it did seem like a tough tear for EJ.

Hello folks, caught up with today's happenings. Lovely photos and posts, thanks. Junior sure is doing a grand job, and looking really good. They make a lovely couple. Some lovely memories from you about our beloved Odin, I do so miss him dearly. I had picked Eros as a name but reading through, a nice Scottish one would be lovely, will have a think about that.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Despite supporting the suggestion of Thor, I went thru the names of EJ and Odin's chicks, and they all had a local connection of local hills and lochans, or names for Scotland, apart from Millicent who was the 100th chick to fledge. I think that theme would be quite nice to continue.

Here's a blast from the past ....
Richard Thaxton's post about how Odin came to be called
Interesting that Richard and the team named him in about 3 days as I am pretty sure Odin arrived on the 3rd April and this blog was posted on the 6th.
No hint to the current team of course :-D
Sheila, has there ever been a Garten, apparently, it's German, many meanings, but one is keeper of a deer enclosure.

There most certainly has, Cathy! S/he (I wasn't here at the time so I'm not clear on that) was a very, very feisty #3, who survived against the odds :)
That's IIRC!

Cathy, you bet there was LOL
2009 - EJ and Odin's first chicks. The eldest was Rothes, then Mallachie and Garten was the youngest.
Off all the chicks, she was my favourite.
Oh well, that's out of the window then, I'll keep thinking. Bye the way, thank you everyone, the updates today, some lovely reading.
These are from my videos, so not very clear.
Green eyes !!!
Today:
Oh, that was the one in the lovely film, wasn't it?
A lovely evening at LG.
