We had a "man on the street" today at LG---Limpy. He was able to report on EJ's whereabouts and be our liaison on a rather unsatisfactory day of the new male and EJ not seeming to be working together as well as the first day. She was seen eating her own fish! Hmmmm.... very mysterious. Another of our regulars is also a wonderful poet who somehow seems to sum up the sentiment of the moment. Lindy had this gently humorous and evocative poem for us. The forlorn male continues to visit the nest still (video by scylla), and EJ's absence continues to concern many. Never a dull season when it comes to osprey. pic by Clare

Good Morning Scylla and Mike and all who follow
Thank You CC for starting us off and for your summaries in your opening posts, very helpful to go back to the key points of yesterday.
Alas its an empty nest, and no EJ or the new male.
Feeling starved of EJ visits now, :-) and desperately want to see her on cam.
I hope she appears today for us all.

Isn't it strange and puzzling? :(
Morning all Feeling rather sad at the moment We were so overjoyed when this male arrived and seemed to bond so well with dear EJ on that first day, and now this anticlimax [and no Glesni to date]

Morning Patily.
Hi Patily.
The sun is up now, and looks like a touch of frost on the nest. I have to say I cannot remember it looking quite so unkempt as it is at this moment, certainly not looking ready for eggs for sure.
On that sad note I will go for now as things to do, will check back later to see if any appearances!
Have a good day all, hope EJ and the new male appears soon for you DUpdaters :-)
Good morning, all. EJ will probably be scouring the area for a male she does like the look of - as awful as a relentlessly empty nest is, it would be worse if she hooked up with a male she didn't feel good with just for the sake of it. Bear in mind she wants eggs and chicks more than anyone, given the distance she's travelled to get them.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
I feel so sorry for New Male. He's travelled a long way too, and he threw himself into his task and persevered with nestorising even when he wasn't getting a response.
I even think he skydanced on that first morning, as EJ was looking upwards before he descended - we've had almost no sound lately, apart from the generator.

Remember how choosy she was last year? Is she hoping/expecting that Odin will return - after all, they were together a lot of years.
