Much more to-ing and fro-ing from EJ on the nest yesterday, stickifying and searching the skies for her Potential Prince (cue the music Limpy thoughtfully provided for her). Maybe as more osprey move north, the possibilities will increase. Tomorrow is another day, and hopefully she is snoozing watchfully near the nest until the morning arrives and she can greet the Breakfast Club._______________________________________The Daily Update thread is for recording nest events only—any questions or conversations can happen on the Osprey Chat thread. The lens has cleared, yay :-))
I will be in and out now, but will try to keep up.
Spoke too soon
Hi all, how disappointing, no exciting developments at LG - either for EJ nor for the cam :(

How quick was that?! Happily, the lens is clear now.
EDIT - "either... nor" ??? !!! Not a good sign for mental health ;)

Does she mostly look south? Does she know enough to realise that is where migrating male Ospreys come from?

I don't know, MParry, but I'll highlight your question so's it will catch the eye of someone who does ;)
As a migrating bird herself I would think she'd have a very good idea of direction. She would have come from the same direction herself.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Putting on my anthropomorphical hat... she generally sits on the rhs as we look at, our view is obviously from the campost on the nest.
This is the view from treecam, which lies to 'our' right in our usual views - you can see campost with the white blob on the left
The cam from the view above is on treecam, a matel post next to the old tree with die-back, with lots of perches that Odin uses, and indeed EJ.
This was taken by Alison, one of the volunteers, from the forward hide and shows both the nest and the tree cam.
All this is to say, I just wonder whether she looks that way to watch out for Odin on treecam!
It's been ENS for the past hour or so.
