We're still in "bring it on!" mode, as Clare introduced March's thread - because so many of our birds have been delayed by "weather". Well, I sure do hope that's why they're not here :o

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
There are quite a lot of red entries on the UK Ospreys countdown page, we need more green. Ian
We've had years like this before. I'm sure we're going to get this sudden avalanche of all these late returning birds .......... though the only bird I'm actually worried about is Mrs G.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Just a quick report on our excellent visit to Manton Bay yesterday. It was along day, 13hrs round trip, but well worth it. I can't put any photos on, as I'm not that clever.
The volunteers were lovely, very friendly and could rattle history off quite easily. We arrived just after that wonderful fisherman, 33, brought in that beautiful trout, a human fisherman estimated it weighed approx. 4lb! no wonder they were quite happy to sit & nap all day & Maya to keep the remains on the nest for later feasting.
The hides are excellent and the pathway well made, although in view of all the rain, it was rather wet underfoot. It wasn't as busy as we had expected, which was good for us, but I'm sure footfall will increase as the season progresses and activity increases when young mouths are there to be fed.
I would like to thank everyone involved with the project for the dedication in the protection of these extraordinary birds, and bringing them to our screens and allowing us to visit.
That is a long way, Cathy. Where do you live?

In fairness Limpy, we did make a day of it, we are in North Leeds, so just over a 2hr run each way, plenty of viewing, and called for a meal on way home.
Many thanks for your report Cathy. I am so glad you had a good time.
