HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY NEW MONTH!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week and a good spring (autumn for AQ).
The roofing crew arrived on Wednesday, instead of Friday, to do some emergency, initial work on my roof. While they worked up there, R.T. Hawk and his mate flew over them several times, and then the pair sat in their pine tree and watched the crew closely. The men didn't pay much attention to their wary observers.
Red-tailed hawks are known to be very curious birds, so maybe they just wanted to see what was happening. I actually wondered whether the hawks thought the men were "intruding" on my "nest," even trying to steal it from me. In their raptor minds, they probably consider my house to be my nest. If I had acted distressed or angry, I wonder whether they would have helped me "defend" it?! LOL
Take care, all.
Hello, all.
Heather: Have a wonderful time with your friends and a great trip!
Thanks, DIANE! In bed now, early start tomorrow.
Have a great time, Heather :-)
Enjoy the break Heather.

Notice that the Commonwealth games will enjoy the sunshine. Swimming will be in an outdoor pool for the first time for ages. Opening ceremony was great, didn't watch all of it but picked it up towards the end. So AQ it looks like the Gold Coast will be getting your sun as well!!! lol.
Weather in Gold Coast has nothing to do with us in litl’ ol’ Adelaide. It is 2048 km away. (Lands End to John o’Groats is a mere 1400 km.) I watched the beginning of opening ceremony but fell asleep during athletes parade, so unable to finish testing my geography.
.
Nanny duty not too bad. Few chores and a game with twins. I put MissL down for nap, reading 2 books, then she wanted “her” song. Nothing I tried would do. It had to be a “cattie” one, of course. 3 little kittens lost their mittens? No. Pussy cat who went to London to visit the Queen? No. Tears. In desperation I went & asked MissJ and she sang & reminded me of “Soft kitty warm kitty little ball of fur . . . purr purr purr.” YES! Eyelids drooping. Now for time with MissJ, reading fairy tales (3 little pigs, Goldilocks, 3 billy goats gruff), saved by arrival of Dau & Miss6 from any more!
Heather: I'm sure I've missed you, but do hope you have a wonderful time. :-)
AQ: Now those are problems I could probably handle.
Have a good Thursday everyone.
Where is everybody today? Hope Heather and Lindy are enjoying their travels. And that everyone else is enjoying whatever they are doing.
Went to our local wildlife centre today - only a couple of miles from home, but I have never been. Really lovely place. Saw lots of different sorts of owls, in cages and flying, including a huge European Eagle Owl. Lots of pine martens, red squirrels, polecats, mink, otters, badgers, wildcats ... and plenty more. I will certainly go again. They have done a great job to make everything as natural as possible, and have really interesting talks on the different animals. Having seen the pine marten on the LG nest, I was very surprised at how large they are!
Sounds interesting, Pat. I've never seen a pine marten or a pole cat, in real life, either.
We've had a busy day - went out this morning to a park and played in the garden this afternoon, as we've had sunshine all day! We've been serenaded throughout by Matthew again, this morning it was "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" and after lunch it was "Doe, a Deer, a Female Deer...." - when he gets to a bit where he's misunderstood the words, he just makes something up.
Went to bed completely tired last night, myself, and expect to, tonight too!
ps Pat -- We saw a 'pretend' osprey nest at Glaslyn, and it was indeed as described, as big as a human double bed! I had a new respect for ospreys after that!
