HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY NEW MONTH!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week and a good spring (autumn for AQ).
The roofing crew arrived on Wednesday, instead of Friday, to do some emergency, initial work on my roof. While they worked up there, R.T. Hawk and his mate flew over them several times, and then the pair sat in their pine tree and watched the crew closely. The men didn't pay much attention to their wary observers.
Red-tailed hawks are known to be very curious birds, so maybe they just wanted to see what was happening. I actually wondered whether the hawks thought the men were "intruding" on my "nest," even trying to steal it from me. In their raptor minds, they probably consider my house to be my nest. If I had acted distressed or angry, I wonder whether they would have helped me "defend" it?! LOL
Take care, all.
Rosy: could you remind me what a sun is please!!!
Good Morning. Raining and grey, here: apparently it's raining pretty much everywhere that it's not snowing! Snow on the Pennine hills in our area.
AQ -- I've welcomed the straight leg look, too. Although in our large shops, there are all kinds of shapes available, including even a return to flared styles!!
Lots to do today, including packing for a few days to spend in the Midlands from tomorrow night, as our Youngest is stuck for child care this holiday and the children are off school for 2 weeks! So we, including Bonnie, are off down there until Friday afternoon.
---- A picture taken on this day in 2008, of my Friends Maine Coone cat who was just a kitten at the time. She still has her, minus a few troublesome teeth!
Good (?) morning. Cold here and a slight dusting of snow earlier.
LINDY - I remember that you said that you might be called upon to babysit and that was why you were staying at home this holiday weekend. Just as well that you did!
OG - wondering how you three are feeling today -
I'm busy getting ready for Danish friend, he will be on the road up, now. Still some pots and pans left to wash after last night's dinner. Daughter #2 did all the veg prep and she and eldest daughter did the initial clearing up and dishwasher loading. I supervised the operation - including giving instructions about how thin I wanted the cabbage shredded. I don't honestly know how they put up with me :-)
Regarding trousers - I'm happy with straight legged ones. Beginning to wonder how much longer I can get away with slim legged, though! Don't want to look like mutton dressed as lamb....
I think its according to your shape and height really, Heather.... different ones suit different people.
You are a busy bee. More visitors! Glad all has gone well. Enjoy your Danish friends visit, and your subsequent trip there, I think you said.
My Oh waited for the rain to abate a little, then took Bonnie out later than usual. Meanwhile, he hoovered the downstairs for me and then emptied the hoover. Then he cleaned up some stuff in the garage. When he got back, he told me to stand at the front door whilst he got the loppers out and chopped some of the lower branches off our two holly trees which are at the front of our front garden. They needed tidying up. We now have a very full green bin for tomorrows collection! Now, he's looking for some clothes to pack for tomorrow - he has sat down in the middle of all this, and had a cup of coffee!
I'm tired just reading this, LINDY!!!
More holiday pictures:
I know its Easter, but there are still Christmas trees around, if you look! When I looked closer, I could see that this one is wired up for lights when it goes dark!
We had a visitor on our balcony, who made himself at home.
View from there, on a sunny afternoon. The tide is not always in. Here, its on its way out again. The water is warm there because its so shallow.
That night, we were treated to another good sunset.
LINDY - The first time I went to the Canaries OH made me watch the sunset. I didn't know why, until I saw the sun vanish so very quickly!
Must go and get on with chores. Feel very lazy today!
Well, it is a Bank Holiday, Heather! - I'm busy too, though, and have just come back on after eating a bit of lunch, to post some more before I switch off this desktop pc.
Local mountains, pic taken from moving car on our way to Corralejo again for a morning out.
The desolate landscape.
There are peaks and valleys everywhere you look: devoid of trees which used to grow on the lower slopes of the former volcanoes, but cut down in the early days of man settling on the island.
View from my chair in the cafe, having my hot chocolate. Both of the ferries are in dock at the same time, which only happens at lunchtime, when they take a break from their all day to-ing and fro-ing between islands.
View in the other direction, across the bay, with tiny hotels and small buildings on the far side.
Whilst there, we bought these and took them back for teatime treats! - one of the cafes does famous cakes, and you can also buy them to takeaway. I chose these because of the chocolate on top; we often take turns to choose what we're going to have. They are even bigger than they look, and when we got them out of the box, rather intimidating. The layers were light, with pastry alternating with sponge cake cut thin and lots of cream. We're not usually big cream eaters, and these were hard to finish! Needless to say, we were then very full....
Later, we abandoned ideas of cooking a dinner, and had a small snack instead! That'll teach us to be so greedy!
