WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, MARCH 25 2018

Evening all:  Good turnout at the march today, although here in California (and especially Santa Barbara) protesters are mostly preaching to the choir.  We heard short but good speeches from some young people and teachers from local schools and colleges.  It's great to see young people so energized. Those kids from the Florida high school have really started something.  Lots of calls for voting preregistration as many of them will vote for the first time in 2020.

Lindybird: Hope the baby pigeons survive this year.

Clare: Some beautiful markings on that bird. Congrats on finally spotting it.

Very springlike here today; must get into the garden tomorrow: The weeds are feeling entirely too self-confident and I have some salvia to plant while the soil is still nice and damp.

Hope things are better with Forestboar.....  Also that OG has a good ride back from the festivities.

Take care everyone.

  • Good Morning, All.  Dry here, with a slight mist over the fields. They're just saying that it's going to turn cold again later this week - brr!

Lynette - Hope the leg is improving.

Annette - The great British Weather (unpredictable, annoying, changeable) is certainly in evidence this year already. We did come home from our hols to find snowdrops gone, but daffs coming out and our camellia in full bloom. The trees have little buds on them. One or two things in the garden look suspiciously as if they might have died in the heavy frosts we had: have to wait and see if they show signs of life eventually.

OG - Hope you're all recovered from your horrible experience now. Glad things are growing in your garden.

AQ - Hope the cooler weather now brings some relief.

We're trying to plan our Easter, but it's complicated - we feel we can't go and open the caravan up yet as we might be needed as backup for our grandchildren's care now that d.in law is back at work, part time. We may just stay home, cook a leg of lamb and look forward to future visits instead!

  • Today's pic:

"No, I'm not falling! - I'm fine really!"

  • I was disappointed this morning to find that the Site which I have been plundering for some animal/bird/nature photos has now been taken down and archived, so there will only be the occasional pic from me on the Chat Page in future. :-(

Its beautifully sunny here, and springlike. I washed a couple of scarves and sarongs by hand, and they look cheerful on the line.  My OH, who went to golf this morning instead of tomorrow (which looks wet) is about to give the lawn its first haircut of the year.

  • There is the first blog published now, of this new nesting season, from Chris. They at LG sound as excited as we are at having our dear EJ back again.

My OH had trouble with the mower, as it has been "resting" for a few months.  It wouldn't start, and as he was on his knees on the lawn, trying to see what ailed, Bonnie decided to help by digging a really big hole in the lawn just two yards away from him......

  • Oh dear, LINDY! Life is never straightforward, is it?!

  • Most likely cause is stale petrol.

If two stroke then the petrol has evaporated leaving it too rich with oil.

  • OG- hoping that you are recovering from your bad experiences at the weekend.

  • Good afternoon all it has been a sunny but a bit chilly weekend here after a horrible wet Friday. Not a lot happening but catching up with washing and able to get it out and dried so have quite a bit of ironing to do. This Wednesday is the college association spring dinner so am looking forward to sum surprises in the food line.

OG I can sympathise with J and the bridge escapade as my wife would not cross the forth road bridge and if going south we had to go to the Kincardine bridge.

The roller coaster has now started and who will the daddy be.

Hope everyone going through a trying time sees the end of the tunnel soon.

No........ About three other unpleasant things happened this morning, too -- I'll be glad when it's tomorrow!  He did get the lawn mowed, though :-)

Thanks, MIKE --  I'll tell him about the petrol thing.

George -  Glad you're OK. Enjoy your meal out. I'm doing the ironing too, at the moment!

  • Good news around an hour ago, SD has been released from hospital (with conditions!). Wound must be checked every day for two weeks And bloods & scan every week. Plus a big bag of tablets! Probably we do without younger SD this week.
