Are the "furries" kittens? A lot for your daughter to take care of, as they have a dog already.

Yes kittens. As if they haven't enough, etc, etc. But who asked me!

Too hot to sit at 'puter, back to a/c-ed room.

  • ANNETTE - not whole bed - all mechanisms working fine - just the mattresses.  Time of year for reviewing investments, so a good time to get purchases sorted so we know what's left!  Have a good day across town and with friend.

AQ - surprised that your Dau has introduced more pets to the household - surely she has more than she can manage already!  Sorry the summer heat is persisting into autumn - a bit like our winter lasting into spring!  Pleased you have been able to start booking bus trips again - something to look forward to.

LINDA - hmm!  No feathers near my bed, thanks!  Slept well last night - so, so tired!  A "normal" day today - I wonder what one of them really is?.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • We had a good visit to see Mum on Monday. We arrived in the middle of a sing song with an entertainer. Mum was tapping her feet and hands in time to the music and mouthing the correct words. It was obvious she was enjoying herself. Music is great therapy. The only downside was discovering my bro who only lives a 15 min drive away was not visiting even once a week and they had never seen her Grandchildren who also live a short distance away. The only Godsend is that Mum will not notice, so maybe I shouldn't get too upset.   Great journey down to Linlithgow and back the next day. There was snow on our return but it was not problematic and made for a very scenic journey.

  • DIBNLIB- I am so sorry to read that your brother is not visiting your Mum. I do know that my own brother didn't visit our Mum as often as her dementia got worse. He said that he just couldn't bear to see her 'like that'. His children didn't see her, either. Looking on the bright side, your Mum seems contented. Did she know you?

OG/LINDY- there were down/feather duvets (comforters) in this house many years ago, as OH and his first wife took a great liking to the Scandinavian sleeping system after their first visit there. I always use goosedown if I'm feeling rich and duck down if feeling economical. Haven't ever slept on a feather/down bed but love the warmth and snuggle factor of sleeping under such!!

  • DIBNLIB - pleased you had a positive feeling about your Mum's care home, happiness and mental stimulation.  Sorry about your Brother not visiting much, and the Grandchildren, but as you say, your Mum won't be aware of this, so the main consideration has to be her welfare and level of care and happiness.  It is good to read your positive report - so good that you are so much less distressed than following previous visits!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • HEATHER   It is always so nice to hear of your family plans.I love the way you are so involved with them.

  • LINDY   We know that Benson gets on  with cats. OHs parents wouldn't have him to visit as they thought the cat may not get on with him. Whenever we visited the poor boy had to go into kennels for a few days. We don't go down to visit more than once a year - if that, so at least kennels didn't happen too often. We haven't seen OHs family since Sept 2016 as we do feel that it does disrupt them more than any of us like.

  • DIBNLIB- Thanks for your kind words :-) My family don't always see eye to eye but we talk each other through the bumpy times and fortunately (very fortunately!) we all have a sense of humour.....

  • Annette- I could not wait for 4 cats to live out their lives (LOL) and had to get new carpet for living room. So glad I didn't wait as they have such a great selection of "Pet Friendly" carpet now. Any accidents just stay on top and you wipe it up with a paper towel and use a microfiber cloth wet with carpet cleaner to wipe it completely away. I have been extremely happy with it.
