  • Today's pic:

"What do you mean, what are you doing?"

  • They may have Scotland the correct size at last on the weather maps, but the section showing when they whizz around the map still skirts right round our bit on all sides - sometimes catch a glimpse of the Upper Solway when they are talking about N Ireland!

Minus six C when I got up - and I was a bit late so was definitely colder than that earlier!  No wet on the ground, so hopefully no ice on the roads.  Now very bright sun, but still below freezing.

LINDA - your husband is so kind and helpful, but I am sure you will be glad to get the bedroom returned to normal!  Have a good outing with Friend - wrap up warm!

J is at the dentist this morning (check-up) and replacing worn tyres this afternoon.  We are having a postponed cleaning day and then having our beds checked as I am getting a lot of back-ache.  What exciting lives we lead!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • No ice here in town but cold wind and a very little snow. For some reason I was facing the wind as I walked to supermarket and the same when I walked back home!

OG - I seem to remember that you have an adjustable bed?

FORESTBOAR - I hope that you will be recovered soon. You collapsed last week, I think?

LINDY - I agree with OG. Your OH is so kind to help sis in law but you must be getting fed up with the disruption that decorating causes. Hope that you enjoy your lunch. Is that the friend who was quite unwell?

I didn't see the take off, ANNETTE and DIANE  but I heard it on the radio! Was I dreaming or is there a car on board?! I sleep with the radio on and sometimes unsure whether I have really heard something, or imagined it. I'm having strange dreams lately. Two nights ago I needed a tooth removed and the Duchess of Cambridge insisted that it be done in her house. Last night, I was making scones and got quite cross because someone took over and played with the dough too much !!

Heard last evening that Mia and Isla (Elgin granddaughters) are on half term this weekend and have asked to have a sleepover with me on Saturday. Yay!! Mum and Dad will come through on Sunday and we will have a Sunday roast together. Then, the following weekend, son and Sam will arrive here from Shropshire and we will stay a few days. I don't know who is more excited - Sam or me. I am booked to go down there in June to look after things while daughter in law is in hospital having the new baby. Sam - I can happily look after. His little sister, Bella, is what can best be described as a character....

  • Yes, HEATHER: beds by Adjustamatic.  Sounds like the two from Elgin plan an exciting weekend with you!  Lovely that you are also having a visit from Sam (and his dad), and your visit down there in June too.  I didn't know his Mum was expecting an addition to the family; good news for all of you!  They'll have their hands full with Bella too!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Morning all:  Re alleged reduction in hedgehog sightings, I know where they've gone!  I was looking at various greetings cards over the last week and in one store, they had three cards depicting hedgehogs!  Something I haven't seen before.  Did they star in some popular  movie recently that has raised their profile to this point?  :-)    Seriously, not happy to hear of actual decline; I do know the two in my niece's garden have been doing well.  Would be interested to hear if OG's amorous but noisy couple will show up again...

Heather:  I wonder what on earth goes on in our brains while we sleep to come up with such unlikely scenarios; still a good thing they stay there. I'm sure the Duchess of Cambridge wouldn't appreciate your arriving for an extraction with your dentist in tow.  Sounds like a lovely couple of weekends with the family ahead.  Plan a quiet week in between.  I also missed the news about a new grandbaby on the horizon. Do they know what it is yet?

Lindybird: I forgot what your OH is helping his sister with - or maybe you didn't tell us.  Hope the decorating can get back on track soon.

OG:  Your life sounds about as exciting as ours right now, though I must say I'm not as compulsive about cleaning as I used to be.  Doesn't help that the carpet is a disaster thanks to Lightning and vacuuming it only reminds me it needs to be ripped out.  :-(

Have been derelict to say the least about dealing with paperwork, but now that the green bin is jammed to the gills with rose cuttings and won't be picked up til this p.m., must contain my efforts to my desk.

    Take care everyone.

  • Had rather a discombobulated morning, where I was either rushing to get things done, or queuing to get out of shops (overlong) or waiting for my Friend who was delayed. Sat down eventually, looking forward to our hot lunches, but although her shepherd's pie was very nice, my baked potato with pulled pork & salad was completely tasteless! A disappointment. Bought some bird fatballs, and went home for a cup of tea and to see how my OH was getting on with the painting!

He had done some more, and hopes to continue this week, although is going for his golf game tomorrow morning! We knew it would be a drawn out bit of decorating as we had no option on the date to visit our son, which has interrupted things somewhat. And sis in law couldn't help the date of her move!

Heather - Sounds as if you have some nice plans afoot, enjoy your time with family. Friend has had health problems for many years - 3 bouts of cancer, a heart condition and her gall bladder out, amongst other things!

OG - We had fitful sleep at our sons, as it's too small a bed, so nice to be home in our own beds now. So important to get your rest, or else it can affect your health.

EDIT --  Annette - Sorry, thought I'd said, sis in law has moved house last week. She wanted to downsize and will also be nearer in her village to the various amenities. She moved last Friday, when we were away, but didn't need us that day as she has two helpful sons and a very good friend who assisted with everything.

  • Bed Man agreed my mattress is past it for me - said there is life in it for anyone without joint issues and pain.  We are getting a pair of new ones so they are the same age for any future decisions.  They are a new design - with "Air-flo" I think it is - cooler than the memory foam topping the old ones.  He was late and we missed making dinner, so saving today's meal for tomorrow and had takeaway chish and fipps.  Saw very light snow this afternoon - nothing lying, and now more like a fine drizzle.  J's time out was successful, especially his healthy teeth!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Evening all:

Lindybird:  You did mention that your SiL had moved, but juist because you mentioned it, doesn't mean that certain unnamed clueless posters would remember. :-)

OG:  Gosh, new bed, auto, and scooter - you'll be all set.

Off to see Brit friend for coffee and natter tomorrow; haven't seen her since before I went to the  UK last September!  Have organized some other overdue errands while I'm in that neighborhood.

    Have a good Thursday everyone.

  • It was 24 C when I woke at dawn, had breakfast, and went back to bed to counter restless night. Temp now passed 40. Yesterday was horrid driving to Dau’s. Despite a/c in car, heat poured in through glass. Twins had me playing Ludo & Guess Who and reading. Miss6 came home from school with tomato-red face. I met the new members of the menagerie. Two small furries. Fluffy is tortoiseshell aged 11 weeks, oh so, tiny. Callie is a calico aged 4 months. Probably both are mixture as they come from rescue home. I have been booked for an evening session for some school “acquaintance night” for parents & kids. Also for a wedding in October. Such fun to be so popular and have my social calendar filling nicely. LOL. Hurry up time. First bus trip end of March. Can’t wait.

  • Good Morning.  Brr! here.....  still very cold. A bit warmer predicted for the weekend, but then there will be showers :-(

OG - Lots happening at your house. All for the better. I have a feather mattress topper which helps me drift away,  think we discussed it here before. Can recommend.

Annette - No worries, I have a job remembering what's going on with everyone, especially when I'm busy myself! Shame that you can't have a new carpet yet but I don't think I'd risk it either. How is Lightning? She has done very well considering how unwell she was a while ago.

AQ -  Sounds very much the opposite of the weather here. We've not had such a long and cold snap for some years. Are the "furries" kittens? A lot for your daughter to take care of, as they have a dog already. We did have a dog and a cat, together, but when our boys were older than your grandchildren. They got on surprisingly well.

Off to hose myself down and then going to do exciting bits like cleaning bathrooms...
