Countdown to 1st March
Yes it is only 49 days, that is just another 7 Thursdays until the great EJ sweep will start on Thursday 1st March 2018
Do I think that EJ is alive? Yes I think she most likely is.
Will she return to Loch Garten? I think that she will be unable to resist at least calling in to say hello.
Will she stay to be Queen of Loch Garten for another year? She may not do. In 2003 Olive gave up and flew away.
Whatever will happen there is going to be great excitement.
I have just checked and I have run the sweep since 2012. Although it is enormous fun it does take up a lot of time. So I would like to signal that I intend this to be my last year in running it. I am sure we can find a new person to run it for 2019.
It is hard to believe that the time has gone so quickly. Meanwhile you can use Birdie Num Num's wonderful Loch Garten Thread Archive to peruse the history of this forum.

A sighting of Cromarty(Blue PP7(13)m) was reported by Aviemore Ospreys (the lochan at Aviemore set up for photography) on 1 July 2017. He posted "Not sure how many ospreys this morning so far, 5 or 6 the guys tell me. PP7 dropped three fish one after the other, one was 15ft in front of the new hide, so must have been plenty dives, but I only count the different ospreys not number of dives."

All the imagicat countdown clocks are now running thanks to Chloe Baber

Hi
After many (at least 60) seconds of detailed research, I have devised a checklist of indicators that the season is about to be upon us. They are:
1 Coffee/Tea consumption increases
2 Sleep patterns become erratic (possibly as a result of 1)
3 Mood swings fluctuate wildly (possibly as a result of 1 & 2)
4 The most definitive indicator, Computer problems multiply exponentially
It is my belief that the above will prove useful for any & all nests that you follow.
Ian
Lol Ian, totally agree.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Haha Ian I believe you have made a TRUE statement! Already happening for me as I am currently watching a few Eagle nests and will zip right on to Osprays post haste!
Hi Fawn, if you are suffering Osprey withdrawal symptoms then there is a nest at Pink Shell in Fort Myers where there are already three eggs. See the News from other Nests thread. Ian
Thank you Ian I will check it out.
Radio silence from me for a bit as I got locked out and couldn't work out how to reset my password.
Is there any appetite for a countdown clock for Clarach at Aberfoyle? I can work out how to do one (thanks Tiger) but not how to embed it on the Chloe/Tiger site. I think there was an unofficial siting of Clarach on 9 April but the first confirmed one by the Forestry Commission on 20 April?

I promised I would look into this recently.
imagicat only covers the nests that it does clocks for the nests that statistics are kept for.
Now I asked Pete if he might add Loch Arkaig to United Kingdom Ospreys and I have just checked and he has done so. See countdown
