Diane: I suspect your poor fingers are frozen solid, so started the new thread. :-) Do hope your friendly neighborhood critters show up when the temperatures rise.
Check back for lovely pic of Kingfisher (and more) from Clare; Lindybird's Second Christmas and updates on cruises; OG's plans to attend a masked ball - and more!
I drove all over the local neighborhood today: Library; hardware store; charity shop; Bed, Bath and Beyond (looking for towels); Habitat for Humanity's ReStore warehouse; University's hazardous waste center; County electronic recycling center; pet shop, beauty supply shop; and two supermarkets! Phew!
Had a lovely walk, in the bright sun. Some pics another time.
Got back and started taking down decs, then broke one of my very favourite ornaments. Am quite upset about it. Bleh. Had had it for along time.
LINDY- what a pity. And a favourite ornament. Is there any way of obtaining a replacement?
I've had an accident also. Trying to replace a bulb in a wall light, broke the whole thing which is now hanging by the wires. It is old and not much liked by me but....
All decs now down but unlike OG I take a while to get used to the bareness.
I've just been through the photos I took at The Lodge yesterday - if you'd like to see them click on this dominant bird:
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
How lucky were you, CLARE?!
You guys have to see this!

Love it, Annette!

Good evening, all. Sorry to see Linda’s and Heather’s domestic mishaps! Hope that the light fitting is in a safe state till someone can sort it out!
Clare - another great set of photos – glad you saw Bramblings as you hoped – one of my favourite birds. The Kestrel was a special bonus bird at the end.
Had thought I might try accompanying shopping trip tomorrow, but includes three places on the high street as well as supermarket, on what promises to be another cold morning – so now hoping to get out on Wednesday for a recce of the new hospital and lunch at nearby farm shop or garden centre just around the corner!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

Yes, 47.3 C at Penrith in Sydney's west. They didn't say if it was humid as well. Central Coast area had 3,000 homes without power. Phew, no a/c.
Quite pleasant here, it is early, not quite 7.30 am. I want to take down tree & decs but I wonder if Little People may "drop in" next few days, in which case they could help. On second thoughts, an outing to library to replenish reading pile is more important..
