  • Oh, heck, OG -- forgot you might have also have floods - it's been really bad in the Lake District. Glad it was excellent otherwise.

  • I enjoyed the tour of Lisbon, Lindy. So much to see, and great architecture.

Looking forward to your next port of call.

Hope the waiting in for parcels was not in vain, Heather. I loved the sound of your birthday meal. Glad the leftovers were taken care if, even if we could not help out!

I had a laugh about Benson, DIbnlib. He does sound a bit cat like. (no offence intended, Benson)

Glad that  you had a good outing, OG, apart from the atrocious weather.

  • Not sure what happened there!

Also enjoyed your birdie pics, Clare, as always.

Sorry about your friend, Annette. Hope your visit cheers her up.

Enjoy Thanksgiving. I expect your Grandson will be over.

Sorry AQ, but the weather is getting cooler here. Right now, it is rather windy. I think all the leaves will be off the trees in the morning.

Hello to Lynette, Diane, Pat O, and everyone else not mentioned.

I think I will have to go to see  Paddington 2.

  • Rained during night, much cooler mid 20s but high humidity. OH has decided to stay home for lunch. Botheration, I shall have to think of something.  Hm, perhaps a salad wrap. That should encourage him to disappear next time he wavers LOL.

Nanny duty was a breeze. I played hide & seek with twins between helping chop veg for Dau’s pasties. Usually twins told me where to hide then they went off to count before finding me. They can count to 8, after that numbers are random! My finding them was easy as they were giggling, however I made sure I looked in all the wrong places first. When Dau left for school pickup I declared Quiet Time. We sat on lounge to read books (cats & dogs, of course), then I sang songs quietly. MissL fell asleep on my arm, MissJ slowed down (!) and when Dau returned she transported MissL to bed. Miss6 changed, fed & watered and soon off to Guides. I was left in charge of pasties, some in oven, some still unmade. Last batch in oven, I was just cleaning bench when Dau returned. With pasties done, MissL napping & only one child underfoot, I was dismissed early. I could still smell the pasties all the way home.

  • I don't celebrate Thanksgiving (on principle), but I wanted to pop in and wish Annette a nice holiday. Best wishes to your ill friend.

Lindy: I enjoyed your lovely photos.

I'm glad that OG is home safely. I've seen on Facebook that there's a lot of dangerous flooding in her region.

    Hello to everyone.

Regarding David Cassidy: It's hard to believe that he was 67. He was so cute on The Partridge Family. I didn't watch that show much, but I was in love with Davy Jones and I will still watch a re-run of The Monkees. LOL!

  • Oh, speaking of television shows: The X-Files is returning to TV! Yay!!!

The new X-Files series returns to Fox network on January 3 in the U.S., and it will premiere on Channel 5 (terrestrial, free-over-the-air channel) in the U.K. at about the same time.

Here's the new trailer on YouTube. I'm not sure whether you can watch it in the U.K., but some U.K. websites are carrying it, too.

  • Good  Morning, and a HAPPY  THANKSGIVING to all our USA friends.

Dull and damp, here: it's rained all night. The Northern News is full of sad tales of flooding in Lancashire and the Lake District.

AQ - Your Nanny Duty certainly went well! - I can almost smell those pasties, too! Loved the story of Hide & Seek.

Diane - I used to adore watching The Monkees. Don't think they're shown here any more.

Getting on with housework this morning, then off to accompany my OH to the Opticians later, to help choose his frames.

  • Today's pic:

"I told you, we only eat bamboo shoots!"

  • Morning all sorry for anyone with flooding - its a regular occurrence now it seems.

I'm with Diane - I loved the Monkees - but my favourite was Peter Tork. My youngest Daughter was a huge fan of the X-Files so I will make sure I watch it and think of her. One of her favourite actors was Gillian Anderson and we both went to see her in A Streetcar Named Desire -  she was brilliant.

Better get going as 17 year old car is off to garage for major service and to sort squealing brakes - fingers crossed.

  • Good morning, all, and best Thanksgiving wishes to ANNETTE and others across the pond who may still be reading this thread.  Sorry about your Brit friend, ANNETTE, hope she will soon be home.

Goldfinch is sitting outside my study window wondering why he is wet - looks so sad and forlorn.  We had a heavy hail shower a while back - luckily quite short; hailstones lay on the ground a long time because it is so cold.

Haven't heard whether our town was flooded yesterday, but as I mentioned last night the road was quite bad with surface water on the way to Langholm, and the river there was high and "choppy".  I had an omelette for lunch at the theatre, and then in the evening I had two starters - leek and potato soup followed by goat cheese salad.  Performance had a good sing along element and was great fun - Mostly old folks like us, but J really enjoyed it for the brilliant musical talent of the accordionist.

Looks like we are having a muddled day today - expecting a visit but don't know what time.  Plenty to do, but not sure when to get started.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
