  • LINDY   love those penguins.

  • Lovely pics, AQ - thank you very much.

LINDY - great that your eldest and family will be with you for Christmas xx

I'm stuck at home again today, two parcels which should have been here yesterday are yet to arrive. Plus, house alarm is playing up again and I'm waiting for assistance!

LYNETTE - good that you and the family enjoyed birthday meal for your daughter. Hope that your cat will be OK.

    ANNETTE - welcome home!

CLARE/LIMPY - great pics, amazing that you can sort them out, given that you both took so many!

OG - I love braised red cabbage. Please send here, immediately....

PatO - Thanks for remarks about the family meal. It was indeed lovely. Thankfully, all leftovers were taken away. It would take me a week to make even the slightest dent in stuff. They did leave cheese, however. OG - you and I are cheese freaks!

  • I hope your parcels have arrived, Heather.  I hate waiting in for them.

I love cheese, except for the "mouldy" kind, even though my OH likes it.  When I went for my M.O.T. recently, I had to admit that my cholesterol reading was probably higher than it should have been because I eat cheese in one form or another, every day.  But I don't have a dangerous cholesterol level -- yet. The nurse advised me to eat fruits which cut into the fats, to lower it.

It's just a bit damp and grey here. Have been working through the To Do List and organising our spare bedroom, as our Eldest is arriving here on Friday evening for a day or two - sadly, on his own.  Off to do the ironing, now.

  • No parcels yet, LINDY. So frustrating. House alarm sorted, must have been me and my silly hands. Anyway, wrote down instructions so can sort it if it happens again! I did tell them that I have used the alarm for twenty years with no previous problems, BUT, have no user guide.

    Horrible wet day here.

  • PS my cholesterol was borderline years ago. I prefer not to think about it. Maybe silly but.....

I'm not advising others to be like me.
  • Good evening!   Painting finished!  Good to read your posts.

Annette – pleased your trip was productive – now, don’t get too busy!  Any family coming home for Thanksgiving?

Lynette – pleased you could get family together to celebrate Daughter’s birthday.  I hope the cat is doing okay.

AQ – lovely windows - so bright!

Linda – great that you know Amber and parents are coming for Christmas – plenty of time to plan.  Enjoy your Son’s visit this weekend.

Heather – the parcel waiting game – so frustrating!  Is this the birthday present from your Son?  Red cabbage was delicious!  Yes … pleeese … cheeese!  I am lucky that cholesterol level is one measurement which is acceptable despite all the cheese – but I do eat a lot of fruit and veg.  Currently, I am on home monitoring of my BP, which had been stable for several years but has now gone wonky.

All going out tomorrow – a light-hearted matinee performance at Langholm, preceded by lunch at the venue and followed by pub meal on the way home.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Personally, I don't really think anyone should worry about their cholesterol too much - not unless they're already at risk of being in danger of heart attack or stroke, and are told that their cholesterol is very very high. Some schools of thought say that it's not really a huge factor in the danger of illness, anyway. I was told I could go on statins if I wanted, but I always say I'll think about it..... I'm not convinced that they're worth taking, as they have side effects, one of which has recently been revealed as onset diabetes.

Sorry your parcel has not come yet. I'm waiting for several things I ordered lately: now I'm expecting them to all arrive at once, and my OH will throw up his hands in horror!

I hate, hate it when things don't have instructions.  Glad your alarm is sorted out.

  • OG/LINDY- Yes, parcel is son's present but there is also one arriving from my brother, so I am told! I will stay at home tomorrow but after that will need to get out before I go crazy.

    Hope your BP settles, OG.

I don't think that the rain has stopped at all, today. Probably more of the same tomorrow. Trying to decide, AQ, which is preferable, our rain or your incredibly high temps!
