  • Got our tyre fixed by helpful local garage -- they showed us the screw which had pierced it, and have put a patch on it which should be OK.

Good job that EE got your tyres checked, or you might not have known about them. I must admit that I don't often gaze at my tyres when getting into the car! I suppose I should inspect them more often when I see it in a car park.

My OH is recovering from having a sudden shock this morning, when he took Bonnie out for a walk in the dark, and fell over a rock sticking up out of the ground. He measured his length and grazed his left hand. I think it shook him up a bit.

  • Hello all, thanks for all your news and to what's been happening to you all.

Pleased to hear that Bonnie is on the mend and hopefully her cough will ease as her throat begins to get better.

It turned out a wet afternoon and evening down here but to be honest we haven't had much rain so it is needed.

Gave myself a morning off Church as I learnt the Worship leader can be a bit full on and in fact introduced 3 new songs which is a lot for a small congregation to take in instead of a balanced one.   Speaker at our Womens' meeting was good today - talking about the environment and in particular trees and how important they are. Wanted us to go out and plant one or a bush. Afraid we have enough in our garden but a great idea.

Yesterday saw us down at the travel agents to book a cruise for next year. It is a one off treat for our GW anniversary and we decided on a Caribbean one.  Hopefully by the time we go the hurricane season will have ended.  Just got to start saving up , well after Christmas.

Hope you are all keeping well.

  • LINDY   Hope OH is ok. Does he take a torch with him? My OH is out with Benson now. If he can, he waits till it is getting light as Benson is more likely not to refuse!!!!

  • Good  Morning,  All.  Awoke to a white view out of the bedroom window, as it's very misty here. My OH says that the cars are white over with frost, too.

Lovely that you're now booked up for your cruise, and can look forward to it, Lynette. I hope you enjoy your special Anniversary.

  • Dibnlib: See that you came on whilst I was writing. My OH was cross with himself, and his hand is sore, but his back and leg were what kept him awake last night so he's hoping the chiropractor can help him today.

EDIT - yes, he takes a torch, these new led ones are very good. I did buy him a hat with a light on the front, but it stopped working after only a couple of goes.

  • Here's today's pic:

"What?! - it's not our fault if we're cute!"

  • OG - Did you drive before, when you were able to? You seem to be very au fait with tyres etc! I haven't a clue (but never drove in my life).

LYNETTE - lovely that you have booked the cruise for the Golden Wedding.

ANNETTE - enjoy Arizona and seeing Miss D again (plus the others, of course:-)

LINDY - Sorry to read about your OH's trip/fall. It won't be helping his back problems. Anyway, he sees the chiropractor today so fingers crossed that he/she helps him.

DIBNLIB - Rocpool seems to be as good as ever.

Big day here. well, for me anyway. Since I've been on my own I've skulked around upstairs either at the PC in the office or in my TV corner in bedroom. Today, I determined that I was going to change things. Made myself stay away from the 'comfort zone', put TV on in the wee family room downstairs and had my lunch there. It may seem a small thing but it is a big step for me, after nearly a year. Wish me luck!

Take care, everyone who reads this thread.

  • Hello, people.  Trying to find the courage to take clothes off to shower – no time before church meeting, and I’ve been shivering ever since we came home, despite lunch and a cup of warm coffee!  Meeting was horrendous – better chairing would get us through the business in one third the time!  I don’t know why people (in general) can’t order their thoughts.

Linda – I hope the colds, throats and your OH’s back are all improved – oh, and the sore hand from his fall!  Frosty start here today, but no mist or fog and brilliant bright sunshine so far.

Lynette – pleased you have booked the cruise for anniversary – hope it works out for you.  We still don’t know what we might do to mark our GW.  Only reason I hope to arrange something is to avoid children putting on any kind of surprise – can’t imagine anything worse than that – but then it’s unlikely since the two girls are still not communicating.  OH doesn’t want to talk about it anyway – maybe he wishes it wasn’t happening!

Dibnlib – I have an excellent headtorch – bought it in Tiso when we met up there!  Don’t use it now, but did tell OH he can borrow it.  Our chiropodist uses one to focus light on our feet!

Heather – no, I never finished learning to drive – OH was teaching me then bought a new car (our first brand new) which I wasn’t allowed to even try!  Two daughters and a dog in the back, and bunnies on the verges were too much distraction for me anyway!  But I have always been car-aware – road-aware too.  Congratulations on your big move today with TV and lunch!   I know it will have taken you a lot of effort, so be proud of yourself!

Now I really must get showered – chiropody at 4:30pm!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Hello all - not been posting for a while but I do read every day.

I have been to eldest Daughters in Silverstone, Northamptonshire for her Birthday (35!) How did that happen?? I was looking after Luna - now almost 7 months, while her parents went out for the day to - wait for it - the Snooker tournament in Coventry.

It appears that Snooker and Darts are big with the kids - my Son commented that he was "well jell" - which I finally found out meant Well Jealous! I am obviously way out of touch.

I had a lovely time with Luna and my Daughter and Partner and managed to see Seraphina and her Dad as well - so a good time had by all.

  • Good to hear,HARELADY, that you are kept busy by the family! I agree, where does the time go?! Yes, we are out of touch. I put an emoji (?) on a message to my youngest but then felt that I should check with her in case it wasn't an OK one, if you know what I mean....
