I just watched the news and the reports of the fashions at the Melbourne Cup. This bird would have fitted right in LOL.
Linda – good to see that the vet enquired after Bonnie, and is following up on the poison issue. Sorry she is still coughing, and that your colds have developed after all. Rained here in the night and early morning, but seems to have stopped now, with a dry day forecast.
Annette – have a good time with the family in Arizona, but do sit back and enjoy it at least some of the time!
AQ – local horse (Nakeeta) from here is running in the Melbourne Cup!
J still at home today, but seems much improved – slept well despite all the sleep yesterday. I have Doctor appointment later this morning, and OH will make his postponed shopping trip this afternoon. Online news says the house round the corner was “destroyed” in the fire – haven’t been to look – Police and Fire Brigade are still investigating.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Came home from Doc via the burnt house (one of our normal routes up from town) - melted tarmac footpath now being repaired - whole thing looks much worse than media pics suggest. Police now say it was suspicious and a wilful act. There were six people there, including children (one of them a baby), and police say the whole incident could have had very serious consequences.
Good visit to Doc - seem to be free of infection. There was a student in, so it was like having a full review of my recent health as she explained it all to him. Just a few little bits and pieces to clear now, but she was satisfied that I am getting back to normal.
Got a meeting at church tomorrow, so may appear later in the day.
Delicious lunch at Rocpool.
We're back home, after a wet but uneventful journey. The house, which was left without any heating running at all, seemed very chilly and is only just warming up after a couple of hours of central heating.
We were cheered by the sight of Ruby (our new car) sitting happily on the driveway - until my OH noticed that she had a completely flat tyre! He's pumped it up enough to get down to our nearest tyre garage and they're looking at it now.
Shocking about the house fire, OG. I trust no one was hurt, then? Hope that J soon feels recovered. You now seem to be interesting enough to be studied by those learning the medical profession, LOL!!
Glad you enjoyed your lunch, Dibnlib!
AQ -- I've seen some of the participants at the Melbourne Cup (the human ones, anyway) in the past, and I see what you mean!! LOL!
OG: That's alarming - an arson fire in a house with a family and kiddies? Will be interesting to hear what the investigations uncover... Good to know you're back on track!
Lindybird: So what is that bird? Wonder what the vet attributes Bonnie's cough to (dangling whatnot I know!).. Hope whatever she ate didn't do any permanent damage, even if slight.
Paperwork and haircut on the agenda today.
We think Bonnie's throat was burnt by the awful substance, as it went down, then came up again! Just got my fingers crossed that it's done nothing else to her insides.....darn't discuss it with my OH in case it worries him.
Don't know what the colourful bird is, but looking at it, I'd say it's a pretty breed of pheasant.
I would say it's a classic Golden Pheasant - but haven't looked it up!
Sorry about the flat tyre, LINDA. OH went for a winter tyre check on my car while in town: one was almost illegal, and happened to have a small split too - hadn't noticed any leakage so must have been tiny. Replaced by Motability. I hate having unequal treads on my tyres, but he says he will swap other front one for the spare; I thought he did that last time: must remember to ask him!
