WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey), 8 October 2017

Welcome to a new week from a sunny spring afternoon in Adelaide.

  • Wet morning here. Swimming this morning again so rain doesn't matter. No prizes for guessing that Benson refused a walk.

ANNETTE  So p;eased you are better.

HEATHER  Have  a wonderful time in Shropshire.  Looked up "The Deerstalker" and I think it is now called "The Old Rectory" and unlike when we were there, the menu looked very ordinary.

  • Good  Morning.  Wet & windy, here.

  • Very, very blowy today.   Benson refused a walk at 1200 when I got back from a swim.  No rain, so maybe he has decided he doesn't like the wind either!!! !!

  • We just had a blowy walk on the beach: wrapped ourselves up, and it was a warm wind, so OK.  Bonnie doesn't care!! She found a dead fish to roll on, so had to be washed when she returned.

We were dodging the waves, as the easiest bit of the beach to walk was the sand where the surf was - eventually, we got caught out by a freak wave and it came over my short boots!! My socks are now drying!

AQ - Your nanny duty sounds tiring. You cope admirably. I would have had a headache, too.....

  • AQ: I don't know how you do it.  My grandson and fiancee are heading back to UK from Paris today and then up to my sister and BIL's house in darkest Lincolnshire tomorrow, along with niece, nephew and wife and their three kids plus busy young dog.  I know sister and BiL are praying for a sunny day so the kids and dog can play outside.  The last evening I was in the UK at nieces (about the size of a postage stamp!), everyone was there and it was - very, very noisy.

Lindybird: Hope the salt water did ruin the boots.

dibnlib: We have steady winds here and while in UK I was reminded of just how blustery things can get with the wind also coming from all directions it seems.

Off to sort out the world...

  • Annette -- They were Wellington boots, so are fine. Just my pride hurt, really!

We've been out for a fish and chip supper, with a nice glass of w. wine. Now eating chocolate and watching tv. The wind isn't quite so strong, so perhaps it's now passing us by.

    Here's today's pic :

That is a seriously distinctive couple of jackdaws!  It's so strange to see albino corvids.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

I have to say that my OH didn't like sand!! He hated the way it got between his toes and other places :-)

    Hmmmmm.......... I'd better not ask!!

  • I don't know where it was, taken, Clare but I do wonder how long it survived. They really do look strange, and it's not surprising that they're often attacked by their own kind.

Incidentally, my OH prefers to get sand in "all those little places" and to be able to cool off in the sea rather than in a posh man made swimming pool......
