  • HEATHER    I hadn't heard of him either.

  • Morning all: Home safe after very good visit to sister and family.  Back later to catch up with everyone.

  • Annette: I'm glad you're home safely, especially with everything that is going on. I'm relieved you made it okay.

  • Thank you, DIANE, for the link!

I've been sweeping and tidying in the garden on and off today, a bit tired but hope to get on here later.

    Welcome home, ANNETTE

  • Well, having got virtually the end of dealing with brother's estate We thought we were near the end of hassle and back to a normal life. It now looks like younger SD will be in just before Christmas. All's well in the world!??

Last Thursday older SD had a lump removal and is now recovering. Waiting to see whether its chemo, radio or both. Last Wednesday when  younger SD arrive OH told us that she had found a lump. Two years ago she had had an op to remove what the doctor said were benign indicators and should be removed before they turn cancerous. Tomorrow back to the breast clinic in Cheltenham for a scan and go on from then. We are both trying to be positive at the moment. 2017 hasn't been kind. Also waiting to collect cats from the vets, they have had de-scaling and polishing under anaesthetics.

  • ForestBoar - Some years are just full of nasty shocks, which makes it hard to be too complacent when things do seem go be going well. Sorry to hear that your family will now have some more worrying times. I hope that our wonderful NHS can help them both.

Rushed off to the dentist, myself. It's a relief to get that niggling filling sorted out. I was embarrassed as he wouldn't take payment for fixing it, as he'd done the same one only a few months ago. Bought my OHs favourite sausages on the way home, he will be back tonight. (He loves Cumberland).

Annette - Thanks for letting us know that you're home safe. I hope your OH has survived without you.

  • Hi, all, on a dreich Wednesday.  Filled the day with lots of tidying tasks – even the pile of magazines which had been accumulating since last winter; half to recycle at the tip, and half to go to the doctors’ waiting room.  Sorted some saved recipes and even filed ones to try in the recipe folders rather than in the to do pile!  OH cleaned bathrooms, and then typed up some minutes for church.  He will go to General Interest Group in Gretna tonight, but I shall probably stay at home because it is forecast to continue very wet.

Pat – good to hear from you and your busy life.  Have a good break with your friends.

Wendy – sorry about hassle with farmer – hope it is soon resolved.  Good to see the food transition seems to have restored Daisy’s mojo!

Linda – sorry the ship was too big for you – but seems you had a good voyage anyway!  And already planning for March holiday, I see.  Sounds like you have been making the most of your OH’s absence to get things done!  I can imagine the welcome he’ll get from Bonnie this evening!  I hope the work went well in your Son’s house.

AQ – I hope you will get those cooling showers soon!  Enjoy the visit from the three!

Harelady – I see the sonic boom was explained as supersonic flight “for operational reasons; I wondered if this related to one which was sent up today to “escort” a passenger plane?  Pleased Sizewell was intact – how many reactors are there at Sizewell now?

Annette – good to see you are safely home – now take a break for yourself, with no rushing about!

Heather – we are waiting for really dry weather for garden tidying!  Early morning was very dry because of the strength of the wind before the rain arrived.

Forestboar – it will be nice for you to have younger Daughter moved and everything settled before Christmas.  I do hope the prognosis is good for the two - you have already had such a lot to cope with.  I hope the cats will not be too woozy when they get home!

Good to smell appetizing aromas starting in the kitchen – early meal for OH going out.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Sorry, Forestboar, that your worries are not yet at an end. As you say, 2017 not a good year for you.

  • Welcome back to all that have been on trips.

OG Re Sizewell there are currently 2 reactors A which is decommissioned and B which is operational. We are waiting for the governments decision re Sizewell C. There have had 2 consultations so far with EDF and there are haggles re who should pay for a road that goes around 4 villages. Also where a workers village would be built to house the 3000 workers they estimate it will need to build it. One good thing to come of it is that EFF have bought a lot of land that they are making into a nature reserve and have committed to that even if the new plant goes ahead or not. This will by way of compensation for the land grab they will need for the new reactor. Locals seemed mixed - a lot of jobs will be secured and lots of pubs hotels and other business will welcome the added trade. Others seem set against it.

I have my Son, Partner and 4 month old James (Jimby) coming tomorrow - I can't wait.

    Have a good Thursday all.

  • I didn’t sleep too well last night, I got too hot. Promised rain was a sprinkle, but much cooler now. I heard police car rush past 5.30 am (we’ve a long street) with lights flashing & siren. Apparently a car chase at Glenelg & they must have been trying to intercept on Military Rd. OH didn’t stir! I was up early, few things rearranged, OH has toy box in pride of place in lounge and I went back to bed for an hour at 9 am! Not expecting the invasion until mid-pm. Chicken nuggets & veggies for tea. Littlies love their veg. Grownups get “grownup nuggets” ie mini chicken Kievs.
