  • Heather and Clare: My favorite Tom Petty song.   :-)

  • That's a good song with really good words.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • They've just played that song over an item about his death, on the BBC News!!  Thanks to Clare, too for the clip with Stevie Nicks.

Have had a complicated, muddled morning but in between events I had a visit from my Friend, and we compared notes on our holidays, as she and her OH have been in the Lake District and Yorkshire during our time away. The wind is still gusty here, but the sun came out for a couple of hours.

  • DIANE and CLARE - thank you for the links- I watched them but still did not remember him :-( Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie et al were part of my young life...

It has been cool here, today. I had the heating on from time to time.

  • Hi, all.  Sad day indeed - another one.

I assume ANNETTE is high in the air right now - wishing her a safe arrival.

LINDA - sorry you had a muddled day, but glad it included a catch-up with Friend.  Good that she was well enough for holidays!

Went to Rheumatology nurse appointment today - glad to be told my inflammation levels have been falling, and were good on yesterday's teat (didn't know they had the results so quickly!)  Back in three months and no change to meds or regime - just continue to balance rest and exercise!

Naughty lunch on the way home - both fancied ham, egg and chips!  Boys are out at a lecture this evening - I didn't want a second trip to Dumfries in the one day.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • I thought I was the only person in the world who had never heard of Tom Petty ... very pleased to hear I'm not alone!

Haven't posted anything here for a while, but I have been reading everything.  Life continues being hectic - who said that when you retired you had more time?  I'm busier now than I've ever been.  Hey ho - it's all good stuff, though.  Off to the seaside tomorrow, to stay with friends at Milford on Sea.  Hopefully the weather will be good and we can sit on their balcony and look across at the Isle of Wight.

  • Sorry I keep popping in here, in spurts, as I've been very busy.

Heather - That's amazing about your friends meeting up in Madeira. We have met people we know, abroad, so I know that coincidences like that can happen.

More about our hols, later, when I've got time to put my photos on.

  • Heather,  I have the heating on, too!

I hope Annette has a safe and easy journey back home.

Pat O - Glad you keep reading, to see what we're all doing. I agree that being retired is hectic!  Hope you have a lovely break away and the autumn weather is kind.

OG - Great to hear that you had good test results, now you can just concentrate on getting yourself back on form. I really enjoyed my gammon and chips the other day!

  • Mixed weather day up here 2 dry walks with Daisy and a longer one on my own. A bit of stress caused by local simple farmer so needed to clear my head. His estate factor our solicitor and local council are on the case just hassle that’s not required .

Lovely cruise ship but a bit like marmite which I love it’s a marmite thing and I would hate the number of people. I prefer self catering in something remote.

Wood burner lit doors open so no radiators kicked in yet.

Doing transition feeding for Daisy as the food she was on for over 7 has changed and not agreeing with her. Found an organic one so 5 days of upping one and downing the old one. Day 3 and she seems to have her mojo Back :-)

  • Good Morning, All.  Dry here at present, and a bluey grey sky.

Wendy - We felt that the ship looked rather too big for us, and it was confirmed during the trip. We only went because it was going on an itinerary we wanted,  on the date we wanted it to. I doubt if we'll go on such a large one again. It had 3,192 passengers and about 1,200 crew. Having said that, people's  habits are such that we often met the same people at dinner or in the lifts. My Friend has been on The Independence which is completely enormous, and said it seemed very crowded on bad weather days.

EDIT: Every February/March we go to somewhere in The Canaries which is so remote that you need a car, and we self cater in a coastal apartment where we hardly see anyone for days.
