I'll let some of my favorite cartoon characters transition us from summer to autumn and into the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons.
As the 2017 osprey Season closes at Loch Garten, I am wishing for a better one come 2018.
About 2 weeks ago we visited Dungeness RSPB reserve and saw a few struggling tardy swallows and was lucky to watch a peregrin having a really good bath in one of the ponds! We were so lucky to see this it made my day. We also saw 4 marsh barriers and 3 kestrels. It was a good day will be going again soon hopefully.
Willow, I'm so sorry to log in only to learn that you have lost your cat. Such a joy they are when they are with us and such a terrible loss when they are gone.
Hope y'all enjoy this capture of EJ & Odin enhanced with a colorful background by Facebook games. Don't know when the capture was made or by whom. Just know it was not originally mine.
Good morning all. Thankyou June for you kind words. They are a huge loss that's for sure! Love your pic of dear EJ and Odin. Will be interesting to see what happens next March! I've a feeling we haven't seen the last of EJ.
Hello hope you don't mind me posting this, but I thought some of you may be interested.
I have just been transferring my slides to digital images, and I came across this one, I remember going all them years ago, to the site just after the RSPB opened it to the public, I remember having to walk quite a way into the woods, to a small wooden shed, where there was a warden with a pair of binoculars, the nest was a long way off, but it was such a thrill seeing an osprey for the very first time.
Any idea what year that was Larkman, I was taken to Loch Garten about 50 years ago by my father, I was too small to see anything through the binoculars, but I remember my father seeing the Ospreys on the nest, but later that holiday, I did see one fishing on a loch. Lovely memories.
June, what a cracking photos set with the comic features. A beautiful, special, beloved pair indeed.
An interesting notice Larkman, many years ago I think.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I have also found the picture I took of one of the pair, which took off from a tree as we were walking back, the slide is a bit battered I am afraid.
Good evening all. Thankyou for the photos Larkman an interesting history of Loch Garten. Love seeing the old information board! How brilliant it must have been seeing an osprey for the first time!!
Good morning all. Have just seen news on Twitter that FR3 has been seen. His transmitter had stopped working and it was thought he had perished. This is very good news a great end to a horrible few weeks! It give hope that some others believed to have died may one day appear after all. Always hope!
