WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, AUGUST 6,2017

Lindybird: I love the idea of the Country Living tent - I could probably do a lot of $$$ damage there!

ForestBoar:  Thanks for clarifying. Hope daughter can move there sooner than later.

Lynette: Ghastly situation for your bro with contractors peering in the windows.  What a nerve!!  My niece is going to Dorset (I had to Google Durdle Door) within the next couple of weeks with friends to look for fossils (they apparently got the correct tools after a previous trip!).  I read Remarkable Creatures and loved it. I thought they were going to make a movie of it, but haven't been able to find if it was actually made. Love the idea of an ice cream farm!  :-)

Take care all.

  • Our 2nd good day and we don't get many of those. Not sure what the forecast is for tomorrow. I decided to swim again this morning after all. OH fancied draught beer so we caught a bus into town this afternoon and went to the Black Isle Bar. OH had his beer and I had a glass of wine. We also enjoyed a pizza each. Normally we do a bit of sharing but I declined today as OHs had some incredibly hot chilli on....way too hot for me. We finished off the afternoon with a sundae at a newly opened ice cream parlour.   OH well....diet starts tomorrow!!!

  • Hi!  A very strange day here.  Weather was great again, but we didn’t go out as my legs were refusing to walk this morning, and we had discovered roadworks are happening between here and Dumfries (again!).  So we got things done here at home (and my walking did improve during the day).  J’s day-out destination turned from Carlisle into Penrith, where he had a good day, including spaghetti carbonara at a favourite restaurant, despite knowing we had planned tagliatelle bolognese at home this evening!

AQ – what an adorable photo of Miss J; she looks so happy.  Pleased you had a good time with them.

Annette – sorry the late switch-on added to your frustrations yesterday!

Heather – good to see a post from you – but sorry you now have apparent power problem.  Hope it can soon be sorted.

Linda – more lovely flower show pictures.  I have to confess a liking for blue sheds!  Such a good contrast colour for standing container plants in front.  There seem to have been a lot of fences inside gardens at the shows this year – not sure I like them so high.

Dibnlib – a second good weather day seems to multiply the feel-good effect of the first one!  Glad you had a good one.

We are expecting rain to arrive overnight, but then may have a mostly dry weekend.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • OG   Glad your mobility improved.

We have been having a fun time with puppies over the last few days. On Sunday we went to Dochgarroch and met a 14 week old GSD (with a 3 year old Newfie). Mikey (the pup) took the plunge and had his first swim. Yesterday at Tiso coffee shop I had a long chat with a puppy walkers whose charge was a a 25 week old Goldie/Lab and today at Tiso we met a 13 week old Husky. Also at the coffee shop there was a one year old Bichon cross something,- who we have met before- a real wee poppet. Poppet however was not overly impressed with the Husky pup and tried to give it a nip when it passed. The poor owner was mortified, but the Husky owner was not bothered. Anyway it provided us all with entertainment.

  • Sounds like a good day, dibnlib.

OG - Glad your mobility improved. Hope it's alright tomorrow. I quite like blue sheds and fences, they're preferable to some of the alternatives! We did paint a small fence green once, which looked OK.

Sad news: yesterday my OH found Bonnie sniffing something under the apple tree, and it was a dead, half feathered dove chick. It must have fallen out of the nest we found. Then this morning, another little body appeared, on the lawn. We don't think there are more chicks.

  • Just been reading through all your news - lots of things happening.

Lindybird - love your daily pics especially todays of the puppy. Sorry to hear the chicks didn't make it.  Love the pics from Tatton Park.

AQ will post a couple of dau's pics of Durdle Door and the Jurassic coast line.

OG - afraid didn't go swimming on Tuesday so didn't lose a few calories to make room for the cream scones - never mind!!!

    Durdle Door, Dorset.

    Jurassic coastline.

Weather has finally broken into sunshine today and hopefully more of it over the next couple of days.   Off on Sat to Germany. Will post some pics when I get back.

    Have a good weekend all.

Treated myself to a bargain necklace from a fashion shop window, it's five vivid blue enamel pieces on a silver chain. I'm sure I'll find something to wear it with!!

Starting, of course, with shoes LOLOL.

  • Lynette - Thank you for the Dorset photos. Impressive. Enjoy Germany. Are you sure I can't come & carry your bag for you?

  • Good Morning.  Sunny here, but still not very warm for August.

LOL AQ!! --  when I got home with my necklace and showed it to my OH, I said "It'll go well with those new blue shoes!"

Lynette --  Have a great time in Germany.

  • Today's pic:

"I'm not coming out until dinner time...."

  • LINDY So very sad. If the winds with you are anything like we have here, then nothing would stand a chance of staying in a nest.
