WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, AUGUST 6,2017

Lindybird: I love the idea of the Country Living tent - I could probably do a lot of $$$ damage there!

ForestBoar:  Thanks for clarifying. Hope daughter can move there sooner than later.

Lynette: Ghastly situation for your bro with contractors peering in the windows.  What a nerve!!  My niece is going to Dorset (I had to Google Durdle Door) within the next couple of weeks with friends to look for fossils (they apparently got the correct tools after a previous trip!).  I read Remarkable Creatures and loved it. I thought they were going to make a movie of it, but haven't been able to find if it was actually made. Love the idea of an ice cream farm!  :-)

Take care all.

  • Good Morning.  Sunny through my window!! Hooray!

Annette -- Its only when our power or water are cut off that we realise how much we take these things for granted. Hope you're back to normal now.

Dibnlib -- Didn't realise that you were still suffering,  but good that you can still swim and it will be beneficial for you. Your cousin will be pleased to be home at last, but I know that this is not without problems.

Love all the hares now popping up, wonder if Harelady has been in to see them! Thanks for the links.

AQ -  What a super young lady,  climbing high! See that your nanny day went well. They have a lot of energy at that age, but can also still need to have a nap to recharge.

  • Here's today's pic:

"Hail! - take me to your leader!"

This is really for Annette - but others may be interested.  I don't think I should make any comment ...

As a golfer, this has increased my sympathy for those across the pond even more.

I saw this online - gives an idea of what sort of a man is in the top slot just now - wonder how long he will last in the world of politics? He looks strained recently and is certainly not finding his position the easy one he thought it would be.

  • Morning all-

Will look at your link, Pat, thank you.

AQ - glad that Nanny duty is less tiring these days! Miss L looks a happy wee girl.

ANNETTE- a busy couple of days for you, with all the running around. And then, no power :-( Salad for dinner?

I've just realised that I won't have power to the shower this morning. Went to the utility room last evening, switched the light on and bang flash. Something shorted? My brother advised me to leave the circuit breaker off until someone can look at things today. That someone will probably be youngest son in law in the first instance.

The sun has got his hat on this morning, so I should be able to do some gardening. The front hedge was trimmed yesterday, second time in a couple of months. All this rain, everything is growing faster than usual. Good for the vegetable garden, OG?

The North Korea situation is becoming very frightening.

  • Heather - good that you've got someone you can call on to get a look at things. I see you've not had very good weather there recently, and yes, the rain has made things grow around here, too.

The sun is out here but there is not much warmth.  Seems a bit mean of the Weather Gods, when they've been sweltering on the nearby continent - you would think they could spare us a bit of that sun!  I'm filling up the w. line again.  Where does all this laundry come from?

  • Popping out soon.  First, here are some more of the Flower Show photos....

A giant bee was attracting interest.

-- I forget which charity it was, or it may have been publicity about the recent concerns about the decimation of our bee population.

Colourful planting surrounding a sunken place to sit.

The side view of the same garden.  Sorry about the splotches, they are rain on the lens!! it was horrible at this stage.

This was pleasant, but had a lot of the tree ferns, popular now - I can't be asked to have to cosset something like that through the winter, and if we get another winter soon with very cold snaps, they might die!!

View from the end of the same garden.

Nice planting here, but strange fencing ideas....

Not sure what that was all about!!  But the plants were admired.

  • Another creature on the grass:

As it was raining hard, I didn't stop to read the notice about why the ant was there!

Instead of garden sheds in a competition this year, they had a theme of "outdoor constructions" which included this shed made into a tank!!

This pretty blue shed was my favourite: here are more angles of the same one:

Fountains for sale, in the rain!

  • Love the tank, Lindy, though they are all great!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • I'm with CLARE, LINDY! Love the tank - love quirky things.

  • Glad you enjoyed....

I didn't take as many pics this year as it was such awful weather. We didn't see as much of it all, either, and missed out going into the Floral Art Tent (flower arrangements).

Been into the town, and did some errands. Treated myself to a bargain necklace from a fashion shop window, it's five vivid blue enamel pieces on a silver chain. I'm sure I'll find something to wear it with!!

Off to stick more things on the line, and do the dreaded ironing.
