This is the beginning of a running thread of the off-season LG Nest Observation Thread until EJ's return next Spring. She may be on holiday or perhaps she is taking a leisurely route with long layovers, investigating nearby territories. God speed her to her wintering grounds and back to our eyes in 2018. With a bit of luck and good timing, EJ the Wise and Magnificent could oust the youngsters CT6 and apparent beau Twiggy from taking over her property.
Please post any notable observations here in the off-season. For more of this season's information on this nest, please see BNN's DU Summaries for 2017.
Photos of EJ fishing on July 14th (last day she was seen) at Aviemore Lochan, posted on FB by Dave Joicey, perhaps taken by Lynne Joicey.

Good morning!
scylla said:it's nightcam and I can't attend to that yet.
Can't attend to it now either, as the change occurred during a long buffer :-/ But it was nightcam when auto-refresh kicked in @ 2150hr - early !!!
Overnight, between buffers, Sluggy did his thing:
I saw him crawl into the sticks after daycam, a light tan colour, but not to be distinguished in a snap.
DAYCAM 0508hr
Then from 0730hr a 1h20m buffer until the staff cam on and rebooted.
Some lovely chaffinches earlier, only MOFFER can snap them well.

I had my RF open, doing the overnight, when you posted, SHEILA.
SheilaFE said:I'm just feeling horribly sentimental, as usual, at this time of the season, albeit it probably three weeks too early. Ignore me!
Not at all! That was a lovely read, you brought back memories for me too, not going back as far as yours tho.
MOFFER! I was hoping you'd be there for the birdies - thank you!
MaryGK said:Every season there are sad things happen but always the good things outweigh the bad, but this season has been the worst season I have encountered since watching, I think for the first time the balance has tipped towards the bad (sadly).....
Yes, MARY - very, very sad :'(
Morning Moffer and Scylla. How on earth you can see the sluggy thing, Scylla, is beyond me! You have clearly been to Specsavers! Lovely wee birdie captures Moffer, they are so clear. Wee birdies have been quite busy this morning. There are several around at present, at least I can only guess they are chaffinch.

Osprey voice?
EDIT - Arkaig!
Hi all. I've been keeping my eye on the nest all day, and seen no sign of any Ospreys. It's raining at the mo.
If anyone from the VC is looking in, have you seen any Ospreys around? It would be very nice to get a side view, or a look around for a change ;o)
Indeed it would Moffer, I suggested that yesterday. Even a negative return would be good!
Well I'm off. Another disappointing day with no sign or news of EJ. TTFN
Bye Moffer. See you anon.
