This is the beginning of a running thread of the off-season LG Nest Observation Thread until EJ's return next Spring. She may be on holiday or perhaps she is taking a leisurely route with long layovers, investigating nearby territories. God speed her to her wintering grounds and back to our eyes in 2018. With a bit of luck and good timing, EJ the Wise and Magnificent could oust the youngsters CT6 and apparent beau Twiggy from taking over her property.
Please post any notable observations here in the off-season. For more of this season's information on this nest, please see BNN's DU Summaries for 2017.
Photos of EJ fishing on July 14th (last day she was seen) at Aviemore Lochan, posted on FB by Dave Joicey, perhaps taken by Lynne Joicey.

Oh dear, I've made so many botches because I'm reinstalling and resetting-up VLC from scratch.
The light is glary at the start of the video. And the abrupt shift from side-cam to nest-cam is what Camperson did - must have been easier than zooming in from the side???

I don't think either bird was ringed.

Good to see you LIMPY !!!
If you look at the female with feather sticking out - I think there's a blue ring on the left leg, I'm pretty sure it's CT6 - then there's the telltale goosey voice!
Coffee time.
Well done Scylla for capturing the action. I left after my last post, typical! It is so difficult to see detail in the vid, even on slowmo, but I too thought of CT6 when I heard the 'goosey' sounds too. However, that presupposes there were three birds suddenly in the area. I did wonder whether this was a pair and it was the usual 'faux mantling'. Twiggy certainly (perhaps, probably, hmmm), but like Limpy I wasn't sure I could see a blue ring, , although I thought her front was less dark that I thought CT6 was.
Unless the female flapped at the inappropriate time (against the intruder) it looked as though she shouldered the male (Twiggy?) off the nest. She looked around before flying off and thenTwiggy, only, returned.
LOL there are too many perhaps, probably, unless, howevers in there! I hope the VC saw it all and are able to give an explanation, if not an id.
Back on nest cam, ENS
(Am going out again! They will probably return!)

Well captured Scylla. Mysterious Ospreys. It would be great if we could get some kind of confirmation. The odds are that it is CT6 and Twiggy.
Well done Scylla. I had to go out and missed it.
After watching several times, (it looked to me that) the female bird had no Darvic and no BTO ring, so was not CT6. The male with her didn't look familiar either. The last bird to land looked very much like Twiggy to me, so I would say 3 birds. Let's see what the VC say.
