Hi everyone, a mixed day, intruders about, lots of shouting and shrieking and mantling. EJ and the young ones saw them off though.
Not sure how many fish, I think 4 were delivered. All had something to eat eventually, Greedy guts (#1) hogged fish when it could but I suppose that is the norm. Middle and younges still haven't fledged but whethe they will in the next few days who knows as the weather forecast is pretty grim for this part of the country
Leave you with the bairns all close together, sleeping. Happy viewing, see you in the morning.

They are a bit wary of the bird call in the distance, all taking cover, crouching down flat, very flat. Bird call has stopped now.

Sat track schedule Spring 2014
LG 7 days; RW & SWT nil; LDOP varies
Bird call back again, otherwise silence, trio are settling down nicely.
Indeed jsb all quiet on the nest front
Mum's back, gosh, you gave us a start,
Eldest loves a night time duvet. It's called Youngest on one side and MIddle youngster on the other.
Well they are watching something .......... oh, it's EJ :)
She's off again. But in the evening light, EJ's colouring was, lighter, much browner that the kids, who were much darker, almost charcoal, which would support Roy in saying, three males. She's back again. Just took a capture...
And a very nice capture too, jsb - after all the rain, a lovely evening at LG
Was it EJ calling earlier to get the other two to fledge? An idea, possibly because on her return, she started flapping on the edge of the nest. But the chicks, were not impressed.

Hi Tiger, what is the earliest a chick has fledged do you know
I think that the earliest a chick has fledged at Loch Garten is 50 days.
The earliest I have seen is 49 days but that was an American bird.
It seems however that a chick at Tweed Valley fledged at 47/48 days recently.
