HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY NEW MONTH!

I hope everyone has a relaxing, joyful week!

I'll try to do some replies soon.

  • Broadband restored - even got a text apology from BT on OH's mobile!

No time to chat now - been catching up reading what I missed yesterday.  BBL.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • LOL Dibnlib-  Pigs are such fun! They've always amused me.

Been to visit Friend for a good gossip. She doing well and has a very colourful scar on her leg from the knee op. The physio girl is very pleased with her progress, and she is feeling that its less painful in the last few days.

    Hey, OG - welcome back!!

  • Morning all:

Lynette:  Letting the people who know their way around do the organizing and driving sounds like a smart way to see things.  Why not a meal out and an open house for your 50th?

Lindybird:  Bet friend feels more chatty now the pain is diminishing.  Niece in UK has been moaning about the weather....   Daily pix are very nice - I tend to comment mostly when horses are  involved.

Clare: Good to see you pop in!  :-)

OG: We'll be without any power next Wednesday due to upgrading by Southern California Edison. We're getting e-mails and pages of "how to plan" suggestions from them that makes it sound more like a siege!  Fortunately, we've hung on to an old plug-in landline phone without detachable handset that will allow us to get calls. Daughter will be here and we'll be off to her docs' appt in the a.m. - may stay gone all day.

Off to Tai Chi and grocery shopping.  Then we have paperwork to go over (always a major project when OH is involved due to his love of making extra copies "just in case". Sigh...).

    Take care all.

  • Wonderful news that all of the Poole Harbour ospreys are now fledged and flying around. How thrilled our Margo would have been!!

  • I don’t think I’ll manage a full post-by-post catch up, but it’s been good to see all your posts.

On Thursday my blood tests went without incident.  We had to call out Scottish Gas again as the leak repeated itself.  This time it was the young local engineer who came today, and he identified the problem and ordered a replacement part.  He will collect it from the Post Office early tomorrow and be here straight away to fit it.  For safety, he had to drain down the boiler, so we are without heating (no problem) and mains hot water.  OH washed up with pans of water on the hob, and J is having the usual shower as his is electric.  Our dishwasher and washing machine are both cold fill.

Good weather today, but OH is lurking/working indoors!  Still quite breezy, but not cold.  Although our broadband was restored, they are still down a hole in the main road through town!

Annette – we too have an old phone for down time on the power; it sits by OH’s desk and I can’t use it as it seems to corrupt sound, but I guess it is better than nothing!  Will you Daughter stay with the local doctor, or will she transfer to one in Prescott now she lives there?

Linda – sorry about your bruised relative who fell.  Our Dau#1 and her OH were on holiday in Bath this week, and he slipped on a wet step at a restaurant, so now has bandaged ankle, a boot and crutches.  She had to do all the driving – I think they are now home.  Pleased you got a dentist appointment soon.  OH was back at dentist yesterday – the very recent filling came out!

Lynette – have a good trip to Hanover and area.

Heather – enjoy your night with young family visiting.

I smell the beginnings of Shepherd’s Pie – will investigate!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • I'm trying to find the time to process all of my Tatton Flower Show pics, and will then put them on here in batches.  Here are the first few:  all taken in the large RHS Marquee, where all the growers display the best of their wares.  No descriptions, to save time, but the blooms speak for themselves..

  • Things have been going a bit pear shaped with my brother's house sale and we have been rather busy. However as of today we have signed the contract. Just got to go back to the solicitors and exchange hopefully. Things will probably go through when we are in the Skye of Curr ( just outside Grantown) for three weeks so will generally be out of touch.

On the investment front that was complicated but well handled by our financial manager and has left us with a good sum to pay her (out of our gift allowances as far as HMRC are concerned) until they all kick in. So we now get help 3 days a week and more often when she moves to the Forest.

I am afraid I can trump Funeral Directors, my older stepdaughter’s husbands brother is a Funeral Director so we are keeping it all in the family!

We finally visited the park in Lydney, the other side of the forest with younger stepdaughter and grandchildren and checked out their Changing Places disabled toilet and we were impressed. Now we know we are safe calling into Strathclyde Country Park (just 3 miles off the M74 en route to the Cairngorms on 12th August.

  • LINDY - I always look forward to your Tatton park photos - thank you.  I love the pretty bicoloured Pelargonium.

FORESTBOAR - sorry things got difficult with the house sale - glad it is almost completed.  Pleased the investment plan is working out well and will help you and your stepdaughter.  Haven't used the facilities you mentioned, but the junctions around Strathclyde Country Park are complicated, so I hope your wife is a good navigator!  There have been some changes to road layout recently, so if you are using satnav make sure it is updated.  But most of all, have a great stay on Speyside!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • OG  Thanks for the warning. I will warn her. In theory satnav data has been up dated?!
