The 22nd of July was marked by the absence of so many of our stalwart members. It was also one of the quietest we've had, after a feisty start to the day by the unringed male who has adopted the nest.
EDIT @ 0500hr - I just checked back to see what time the UR first landed and I see that MIKE wasn't the only early poster I missed - MOFFER had posted daycam, and I duped her - sorry, Moffer ;)
It seemed that he was aware of another osprey 'out there' but we saw no-one, however two 'bouts' of skydancing were heard - would a male do that if there was no-one to see and hear him? But if there's a female around, why didn't she come to the nest that he's been working on?
The only other visitor of note was a beautiful one-eyed ;) crow.

It's now much later than the post's time, it's taken so long to get the ending and starting posts posted!

Birdies LG DU update.
Morning everyone. Is there any book on what the future at Loch Garten holds? Lots of large sticks it seems.

Good morning all, well this fellow is getting his feet firmly onto the nest! PU or MU? Think he has to learn a bit about the housework, take smaller sticks and then they and him will not fall out the nest!! Only having been around the last 5 years with Odin and EJ, I was wondering what happens now. Will this fellow settle and claim this nest as his? When EJ comes back next year, as she will be first to arrive, will she accept this fellow or will it still be a case of her choosing which male she fancies. If that takes a while, how will the mating/laying/ hatching timescale work?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Essentially it is in 'The lap of the Gods'. Too many variables but the one thing we don't want to see is a serious fight over the nest between two females.

There will be a war of succession which could go on for quite a long time. None of these new males seem very strong contenders yet.
Thanks both, oh wel it will not only be a long wait until March but continued nail biting to see what will happen.
