The 22nd of July was marked by the absence of so many of our stalwart members. It was also one of the quietest we've had, after a feisty start to the day by the unringed male who has adopted the nest.
EDIT @ 0500hr - I just checked back to see what time the UR first landed and I see that MIKE wasn't the only early poster I missed - MOFFER had posted daycam, and I duped her - sorry, Moffer ;)
It seemed that he was aware of another osprey 'out there' but we saw no-one, however two 'bouts' of skydancing were heard - would a male do that if there was no-one to see and hear him? But if there's a female around, why didn't she come to the nest that he's been working on?
The only other visitor of note was a beautiful one-eyed ;) crow.
.
It's now much later than the post's time, it's taken so long to get the ending and starting posts posted!
IMAGICAT
Fox heard.
We have light, it's quiet and dry:
Kitchen Coffee break.
DAYCAM 0442hr:
I've been hearing things but probably only breezes?
Definite wings. Probably.
Breeze/interference combo?
Slight movement on campost.
There was a prrrrrr sound like a small bird's sudden flutter.
Am I trying to hard? ;-)
Sounded a bit like distant thunder just now, or explosions :-/ Nothing else happening.
Unringed male landed. Pottering.
Live snaps from VLC !!! to be going along with.
Back of head pattern:
He just flew.
