HAPPY NEW WEEK!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

  • Sorry, no cheerful picture from me this week. I'm not at home. I'm in the big city (Indianapolis) dog-sitting for my friends' three dogs while the humans vacation in Toronto, Canada. I arrived Thursday.

The dogs (all rescue dogs) were overjoyed to see me! I'm enjoying the air conditioning and the premium TV channels.

For the movie buffs among you: I watched the movie Snowden (2016, directed by Oliver Stone) last night. I will never look at the world the same way. It's a powerful film. I highly recommend it! In the U.S., it's being shown on Showtime.

Annette: I saw the new NASA photos of Jupitor's Great Red Spot. Glorious!

  • Evening all:  Had a casual dinner with old friends from around the corner after a very busy day.

Diane: Very sweet of you to get us organized while keeping an eye on friends' dogs.  I'm not a big Oliver Stone fan; he was on the Stephen Colbert (I think) show some time back defending Vladimir Putin.

Lindybird:  I remember that Harelady was taking boxes from her daughter's house back to her own home, but am not sure.  Now am looking forward to the men's finals and rooting for Roger.  Gosh, your neighbor's nephew isn't wasting any time taking over her house is he?

Wendyb: Hope Daisy doesn't get any worse over the weekend.

Hope the new week is kind to all...

  • Good Morning.  Dull, grey and damp again here, but not really cold, and better weather promised later on.

Thanks to Diane for starting us off again - enjoy the dogs and the TV!

Wendy,  sorry that Daisy isn't too good. We do feel for our animals when they're not well, and wish we could explain it to them.

  • Here's today's pic:

    "I see you......"

  • Good morning, ALL.  We are back to real summer weather today, and supposed to last about three days this time.

HARELADY - sorry, I don't know why I said Snape - suppose I was thinking of Snape Maltings as the venue of the Aldeburgh Festival!  My OH and his Brother used to attend an annual Sunday School teachers' gathering at Leiston Abbey, so he knew it well (in the 1960s!)  I agree with your Brother that the East Coast is cold - especially Norwich where OH's parents lived - except when those massive thunder storms come in, and then everything boils!  I suppose the sea is still getting closer to you due to erosion - I was always fascinated by Dunwich, although I never heard the church bells ring under the sea!  It is so sad that your Daughter didn't get to the new house with you - did she help choose it?

DIANE - thanks for starting us off again.  I am sure the dogs we pleased to see their sitter again!  Have a good week in the city.

WENDY - best wishes for Daisy.

ANNETTE - how nice to have a "casual dinner" with no pressure, especially at the end of a busy day.

LINDA - I think your weather should soon be clearing away to the south.

Must go - nearly time to set off to church.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Yes, the weather cleared up eventually and now it's quite bright.

My OH has been watching the Grand Prix at Silverstone, and now that's over we have the tennis. I didn't have time to watch it at the beginning, anyway, and the dining room tv is unplugged and sulking in a corner. My OH has finished the painting he wanted to do, so now we're ready for the carpet people in the morning. At least, I hope it will be morning.

My Friend is doing OK,  according to her OH, although she's had some pain, and they're not sure when she'll be home as they have to stabilise her various other conditions.

  • Oh dear. I feel so bad for Cilic who seems to be having a meltdown. The pressure must be awful. And in front of the entire world.  :-(

Lindybird: Can't miss with a horse photo! I can visualize your TV sulking in the corner. :-) Hope the carpet installation goes smoothly.  I used to watch the Grand Prix at Silverstone and my sister and BiL were regular attendees due to his working in the auto business back in the day. Hope friend is home soon.

OG/Harelady: Wew were watching the news the other evening and there was an extended segment filmed in Aldeburgh, where I went with my sister for a couple of days on last visit. They were talking to the fishermen about how EU restrictions were ruining their livelihood...   It was lovely to see the places sister and I visited, which included a view of the hotel where we stayed and the ocean view room we stayed in!  :-)

Looks like Cilic might be doing better...is Roger going easy on him or what?

  • Well, Cilic made a reasonable comeback but Roger prevailed. What a sweetheart. Gosh, what am I going to do tomorrow morning?   :-))

  • Goodness, Federer has done it again!  What a champion he is. Don't know what went wrong with Cilic in the middle, there, he seemed to go to pieces. Just shows the pressure, I guess.

Every year Wimbledon seems to start slowly, then rush off towards the end.

  • OG - not a problem - as it happens I went to Snape Maltings after Church this morning. Was a bit put out though as I had asked my Priest to say masses at various stages of Katies Illness and ultimate death - but he did not pass the news on to the congregation. The masses were said on weekdays when we do not get a huge attendance. Therefore I had lots of people asking me about my recent absences and had to explain about Katie which was hard. Just one more sleep until eldest Daughter and new baby Luna arrive - although she is teething so we may not get much sleep.
