For years people have been asking when the next British osprey translocation will happen, it being over 20 years since the one at Rutland began.
On 20th June 2017 we finally got to know that it is to be to Poole Harbour and what exciting news that was. To complement this Roy Dennis has also opened a new Facebook page called Roy Dennis Wildlife Foundation
They are looking for 200 people to become conservation champions for a minimum donation of £250 each. All donations are welcome.
The project is a partnership between the Foundation, local charity Birds of Poole Harbour, and Poole based-business Wildlife Windows and is part of a wider conservation recovery plan of osprey in Western Europe and the Mediterranean region which was recently commissioned by the Council of Europe and authored by Roy Dennis.
This is such exciting news that will keep people interested for the rest of our lives.

"Osprey Translocation Update
We’re now up to six birds using the perching posts on and off and its looking like a release next week some time is on the cards. Some foul weather over the coming weekend may delay things slightly but we’re hoping to at least get everything set up and in place ready for the big day(s).

What a bird! How long until release? What size fish pieces are they eating now? Can't wait to spot them in Poole Harbour!
LS0 & LS1 are eating Mackerel and Sardine halves now. We're meeting as a team tomorrow to discuss release. Exciting times!

Thanks Sheila. Sounds like release time is getting closer.
Last nights update:
A quick check on the birds this evening before the afternoon shift finished saw 6 of the 8 all perched and almost ready to go. We’re just giving them a few days to get used to eating larger sections of fish before ‘the big off’ as we’ll continue to place large (and even whole) fish on the feeding platforms out in front of the pens after they’re released. We took a quick snap through one of our spy holes this evening too, just because we couldn’t resist."
We are down that way in 6 weeks and cant wait to hopefully get a chance to see at least one of these birds in Poole harbour.
